I can pull up the system menu, type in a few letters of what I want to launch, and hit enter to get it started in less than 2 seconds, without having to open or switch windows to a terminal

That's what I do in Windows, but I hit the Windows key instead of Enter

Yeah but as per the post, windows menu is taking forever to open...

For me, the Windows key stroke can often be part of the next few letters I'm searching for, and my machine is a mid-range (at-best) build from 2020.

And that was before I installed an app that gets rid of most of the junk in the Start menu, turning into just a Search field with a power button! Lol
