This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

I've been tracking my drinks for 2 years, first time I reach such a sober streak - and I feel really better!

Nice! I'll be at seven years next month. Before that my calendar would have been all orange and red with the occasional black or yellow day sprinkled in and not a single green day to be found.

Quittung was probably the best decision I've ever made. Mainly because it was the first step to many more life improvements since. It's never too late to change your life!

What replaced the addiction? I'm struggling with something else and have come to understand the addiction usually fills a gap I think

Honestly? At first: weed. I was already a heavy weed smoker before I quit drinking and when I gave up alcohol, it helped soften the blow. I ended up quitting that too a year or two later though and that had an equally positive effect on my life. When I quit weed and had no substances left, I just rawdogged sobriety until I got used to it.

I wouldn't recommend substiuting one substance for another though. If I had to recommend something to replace an addiction it would probably be exercise. A few years after quitting weed as well I discovered road cycling and that's been a great thing to get invested in and it motivates me to stay sober. It's been really rewarding to see what I can achieve if I really push myself to the limit and sometimes it's actually strangely enjoyable to suffer on the bike (type 2 fun).
