Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

ThinkPenguin hardware is extremely outdated. Would definitely consider PCSpecialist if it was an option.
Thinkpenguin is just rebranded clevo stuff. Most small company laptops are like that. Everything from system76, to sager, to eluktronics. Basically if you find a laptop you like through a Linux hardware company, maybe find the chassis model and save a bit bc there usually isn't much different between them. If you play your cards right, you can get software support through another vendor bc they sell the same laptop. (Bios updates etc)
Like the Thinkpenguin t4 is just a clevo nj50.
