A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !uspolitics@lemmy.world
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.
8) No Bots.
Posts or comments from bots, LLM's, AIs, Neural Networks, Transformers, or Marvin the Paranoid Android are not welcome in AskLemmy. Real humans only please.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

If flossing is hard because it's difficult to get the floss between your teeth, then you need braces.
Ever since I got braces, for one, I smile with my whole mouth now, and for two, flossing is a quick 30 second in and out procedure that helps keep my breath smelling better.
My parents got me braces for my top set, and they're super easy to floss, almost never had a problem with them. Had to wear a brace stretcher thing at night that hurt and was awkward, so they took pity on me and got me a retainer for my bottom set, which I lost almost immediately, twice, and then POOF like magic, they stopped giving a shit about fixing my teeth lol
So my bottom set of teeth is a horror show, is super difficult to floss, and gets mad cavities. I shoulda just got both done up by braces at the same time. Kinda weird they didn't now that I think about it ๐ค
I had braces top and bottom, teeth nice and straight around 16. From 17-25 I never went to a dentist (I got sick of waiting over an hour past my apts and stopped going to dentist and doc altogether...) then at 25 right before coming off my parents health insurance my bottom teeth started getting sore. Like all of them, and they were crowding again. Fucking wisdom teeth just about undid 50% of what the braces fixed. Got those out, yet to have a cavity at 30 ๐ค but my top teeth are easy to floss and I always pull shit out of the top set when I floss nightly. The bottom set is a pain, one pair of teeth I have to fight to get the floss in. But I almost never have anything between my bottom teeth due to how damn tight they are so kind of a double edged sword there lol. Also, don't be a dumbass and go to the dentist and doc annually โค๏ธ I was young and foolish and managed to get largely lucky...
You might do well with one of those online dental places like Smile Care Direct, even though I think Smile Care Direct is out of business, but there's others that have taken over.
Knockoff invisalign will get you 95% of the way there for like 40% of the cost.
