I take his point to be: those who work in the tech industry and in academia bear responsibility for their part in the rise of companies like Meta, and their consequences. Which is obviously true. Blaming billionaires is disempowering and doesn't explain where billionaires came from.

I'm confused by the unwillingess of people to take responsibility for their own lives and actions. Drop responsibility and agency, and you cannot be anything but a slave.
