The point is not that the children cannot listen to books but the bonding ritual that is reading to a child. Hearing the stories they like to hear. Having them ask for a specific one. Singing your child to sleep as well - you can still play music but the act of them watching you sing and hearing your voice is important.

Go listen to a Tonee or whatever when you get home from school while I'm making dinner and let your imagination run wild to Gabby's Treehouse audio books but I'm reading Cinderella tonight.
