me spending a bunch of time and money to find and buy unscented stuff:

...just make your own at that point and save money? You should not be suffering spending extra on unscented stuff. That's like the easy ass default. You can buy unscented soap in bulk for cheap as hell.

And haven't tried this, but: https://cadryskitchen.com/diy-coconut-oil-deodorant/

Like baking soda, cornstarch, and coconut oil might be all you need for an unscented deodorant

sadly i am a stinky/sweaty lady and require antiperspirant, not just deodorant. which I did actually attempt to make myself once. i bought aluminum chlorohydrate powder and then proceeded to not make the time/effort to make an antiperspirant gel/spray out of it for about 5 years before giving up, admitting to myself it was an abandoned project, and tossing it along with components for several other abandoned projects in a pre-move cleanup 😑

fortunately I'm actually good on soap for now between Kirk's Coco Castille unscented and my hipster friend's homemade unscented olive oil soap :]

shampoo and conditioner have been difficult. I like the CeraVe ones I currently use but have to decide if I'm satisfied with their performance enough to justify the price. 😬 though if I do decide that I'll likely get them online for cheaper next time I run out

it is a big dumb scam that unscented things usually cost way more than scented.

Check the organic/natural isle of your grocery store and look for the Potassium Alum based deodorant. They look like a block of crystal. They're natural and non-aluminum. They also come in unscented variants. Best of all, they're cheap.

I have one, they're super great astringents for stopping bleeding of small cuts :D sadly they're not very effective on my level of sweat/stink 😭 though they are better than nothing so I use mine as a backup when I've run out of aluminum chlorohydtate antiperspirant. They are indeed cheap if you know where to look, and I've never had one run out (I just drop them and they break 😂)

of note, potassium alum / any alum mineral does actually contain aluminum ions by definition. they are known to be non-irritating to some people who have a reaction to more mainstream antiperspirant ingredients (e.g. aluminum chlorohydrate, aluminum chloride) hence their popularity as an alternative
