Here's the deal. Public transit in Bay Area got slammed hard during COVID and ran huge deficits. Raising fares is a regressive tax on people who can least afford it. But having good transit means fewer cars in traffic-logged roads. Plus, easy ways to get to popular venues like sports stadiums and San Francisco. It benefits everyone directly and indirectly.

A lot of people can't afford to live in city cores like SF, Oakland, and San Jose. So public transit is the only way they can get to work from affordable, outlying suburbs. Local transport agencies have done a good job scaring the crap out of people, by announcing which stops and lines will have to be shut down if this proposition doesn't pass. Entire cities will turn into unreachable islands if they shut down those lines.

Given all this, any sensible person would support this. But there are absolute, self-centered idiots out there who are opposed, because it will raise muh taxes.

Can't believe this is even questionably close. If it doesn't pass, I will not feel sorry one bit for those suburban voters crying that their property values just tanked and their commutes doubled.

Also, this has nothing to do with billionaires. Really wish MJ wouldn't resort to this clickbaity shit.

EXCUUUUSE ME! This has everything to do with Billionaires! I was a kid in Concord touring the prototype BART cars before they had even built the first mile in the late ‘60s. And I was in Law school when Ronald RayGun’s “ Tax Simplification” act doubled the number of pages of the 1954 Tax Code it replaced. It’s always about The Billionaires and Trillionaire Wannabes! Capitalism only successfully exists when well regulated and taxed to support the infrastructure that allows it to exist. I always dreamed of an oceanside clifftop home North of Bodega Bay - settled for a hilltop 130 miles inland. But still had faith in our Country’s promise of the ideals of The New Deal. We have failed to continue the middle class progression of the post WWII economy.

Fascists play a looooooooooooong game. They were defeated in past Wars, but never expunged. And they have infiltrated and assaulted common society for Centuries.

I thought the French decapitated enough of them to teach them all a lesson.

But no. They continually crawl forward, increasing the population of uneducated to fall in line with their Victimhood propaganda.

So, yeah. It’s about Billionaires!

they prevent housing via nimbyism on several occasions in the bay, they solely are responsible. public transports just doesnt go far enough outside of the cities to make it useful.

they always word the props in a wierd to trick you into either vote against or for a bad measure.
