The park is said to have told ministers that it was in a "critical financial state" and unable to provide adequate care for the whales

animals born in capitivity often cant survive in the wild, and plus theres also potential inbreeding that they dont want to introduce into a wild population. they dont have the same survival skills as a wild cetecean. thats why there so many tigers in capitivity, they were inbred

Regardless of the potential risk, this option is the only one that gives them a chance of living a meaningful life when the other options are:

  • A zoo in china
  • Literal euthanasia

But it's not really a chance at life and cruel. Starving to death is not a nice way to go. And I can't believe people are suggesting it. As good as people feel about releasing the whales the survival rate is not good.
