Do you watch any twitch or streaming in general? It's not all about boobs streamers and influencers. I don't know about Emiru besides some entertaining clips but there are plenty of streamers who have a variety of entertaining content. You may not find it entertaining but a lot of young people do. Your view on streamers sounds very geriatric and antiquated. This is the next generation of decentralized entertainment. People have these kinds of para social psychotic relationships with traditional Hollywood entertainers as well.

No one is forcing people to give these streamers their money or forcing them to watch them. Infact, their decentralized nature, as opposed to Hollywood, makes so that they are exploring less people with how they get paid.

Stop being so antiquated. You make it sound like people don't have agency over their own choices and what content they consume. Call out psychotic behavior but no reason to demonize people just because you don't consume their content.

You lost me at

decentralized entertainment...

That's so patently false it could have been an argument by the pedophile in chief.

I'm out to my antiquated life, cheers.

edit: Two people already who don't understand what decentralised means. This is concerning, that's the type of people who fall prey to these scammers or other tactics to take advantage of the lowest common denominador, like lootboxes or gacha games with hyper sexualized young characters. Late stage capitalism sucks.

People pay streamers directly through subscriptions rather than through a cable company. In that sense it is absolutely decentralized. You can call Amazon/twitch involvement in it as a counterpoint to my decentralized point but if you compare it to traditional entertainment, it's still far more decentralized. Twitch is not the only streaming platform now. They are still the biggest but there are a lot of successful streamers on YouTube and TikTok.

Also twitch has been paying out less and less to creators that a lot of streamers' revenue stream is outside of that platform, be it individual donation sites that twitch gets no cut of, or merch sales from a storefront of the streamers' own choosing. So it definitely has been way more decentralized than it was.
