@PMmeTrebuchets am i not supposed to im new to mastadon and it just kinda auto did it
Perhaps it's the app you're using? I would say most people (at least on Lemmy, where I'm viewing this from) don't tag the OP unless there's something specific they want to draw their attention to or if they're calling them out specifically in a reply. They get notifications of all your comments so no real need to tag them. It's a lot like reddit in that respect (again, I'm on Lemmy, using the Voyager app. Another app might be different).
Edit: apparently that's a mastadon thing. Proceed.
wait does this site contain multiple platforms?
Am I stupid lmao I got here via Lemmy 😂
it feels like communicating between dimensional planes
I think it's because both are in the "fediverse" so perhaps that's part of how that works
I think I understand how this works now
Welcome to the magic of federation! This is how I'm seeing your posts: https://lemmy.ml/post/38812210/22162387
Basically, the Fediverse are lots of different sites that all use the same language (protocol), and some are able to talk to each other. So a Mastodon site (instance) like mastodon.world
I haven't kept up-to-date with what's possible and what isn't working yet, so I might have missed something.
oopsie daisy
I think it's okay, now I know apparently that mastadon just does that. I did not realize mastadon and Lemmy interfaced like this. Carry on! Enjoy your stay!
