Always been fascinated by the EU and especially the Yuuzhan Vong war and I figured I had to make a start with reading the novels. I found this box deal of the first three novels but the seller suggested me the other books as well and I figured I might as well get them all together.

Afterwards I realized that if I didn't like them I just ordered 19 books lmao, but I'll probably like them so whatever

Personally I have always viewed the Star Wars universe as a bit of the sci-fi version of the US in which you have one openly fascist force (the Sith and the Empire) fighting against a capitalist oligarchy that also does fascism but less open and is on some levels a bit more progressive (the Galactic Republic). A bit like the Republican - Democrat options the US has.

The clone wars era (movies 1-3, the sequels) was very much about an intercapitalist conflict in which the openly fascist force, the Empire, won. From an anti imperialist view the Rebel-Empire war is the more interesting one because at the time it was released it was sort of a reflection of the Vietnam war with the Rebel forces representing the Viet Cong.

The novels released after the original trilogy (the rebel-empire war) never really bother to go into deeper political analysis and it is clear that the New Galactic Republic is just a revival of the pre Empire republic, meaning capitalist oligarchy. The books are still fun though and it's not as if they are openly advocating for imperialism/capitalism or whatever but it is also not challenging the status quo of capitalism or something like that.
