One is WAY more expensive and effort-taking.

It's not really comparable, my mom didn't buy a PlayStation because she couldn't afford it.

Now I don't have a kid because it's expensive and I can't afford it ... But it's totally different

Congratulations on not having a child! You deserve attention and praise, but most of it is going to go to expectant parents who are probably just going to fuck things up for everyone, for generations to come. But I see you. You rock.

Actually, given how ass-tastic Sony has been lately, I'd say mom made the right call without knowing so.

The PS2 was a good console, in its time. So was Sony, well they were better than now. Actually that's selling the console short, cause most families didn't get it because it played games, they got it to play DVDs and it was by far the first affordable DVD player in it's time.

My mother went and got another daughter so she has access to a grandbaby cause me and twin sure aren't ever making any. Especially now we're almost 40.

My mom's twin has grandbabies and now grandchildren. Non of my mom's children have had a child yet, so she will go their family gatherings with her twin sister

Mother is an only child so I thiiink it's her husband's niece but I'm unsure!

My dad doesn't say it but he wanted the family line to continue. I don't care, humans will continue without this mix of DNA.

He never needs to know I got a vasectomy back in my 30s.

i'm in a field filled with big ego/low emotional intelligence people and it'd wild to me how obsessed with "legacy" so many of them are.

no one even knows about you, why would they care about your family line? the most history will remember 99.999% of us is some obituary in a newspaper noone reads. the only way

all caught up in the rat race wasting their lifes chasing a fulfillment/acknowledgement they'll never recieve from the boss/org while burning what little potential for human connection they actually have by overworking so much.

That doesn't narrow it down, unfortunately.

I think it's instinctive. It's why blood and soil propaganda works.

Anyone walking around doing spermatogenesis without a vasectomy is a fucking idiot.

[–] DontRedditMyLemmy@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

You can do it while you walk??

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

I don't really even think about it anymore.

I would never ask my adult children to make me grandchildren. Because their mother's gene pool should not be continued.

This takes on a fairly different meaning depending on which parent you are.

Plot twist : The day you have a kid, your mom buys him a PS5

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 11 hours ago

But it's all locked down and outdated.
