That really sucks. I love Mullvad. So challenging to find ethical tech.

It will end up being the nazi-VPN because only nazis will knowingly use it due to the CEO's political affiliations.

You can see all the nazis swarming around it in the comments, which is ironic because they’re the ones who don’t want privacy for anyone the most.

I'm glad I went with IPVanish over Mullvad. Very similar in features and price.

I've been using Nord after moving from PIA. Seems OK, though their Linux client isn't amazing.

I used to use Nord but I was turned off by their misleading advertising and predatory subscriptions and pricing approaches.

You pay more per month than what their misleading advertised prices suggest and they will try to auto-renew your subscription at several times your current price if you're not paying attention.

I always let them expire no matter who the provider is, they usually offer a big discount after. This works with ISPs, phone service providers, etc.

Careful though. The Nord subscription will auto-renew (at a higher price) unless you specifically tell it not to in a somewhat hidden menu. And check it again before it expires because it is known to magically set itself back to auto-renewal close to renewal.

You are correct! Good luck to them renewing off gift card with no money on it though.

Can confirm, this happened to me a few years ago. Thankfully I realized it minutes after it renewed itself and managed to get a refund, but the customer service was adamant that I did not turn off auto-renew. I did. I specifically double-checked a week before my plan was supposed to expire--I always have subscription expiration dates on my calendar bc of shit like this. Deleted my account as soon as I got my money back. Fuck NordVPN.

Wow, that's super shady. Puts them more firmly on my 'nope' pile
