The virtues of free treatment for diabetes, cancer, and epilepsy not withstanding, the difference between them and COVID is that they aren’t contagious. The return on treating them is linear, while the return on slowing the spread of COVID was exponential.
I was gonna say this, but you said it way better. The important part of vaccine mandates was the contagion aspect of it; so the funding was justified by public safety and obviously care for our neighbours was a huge incentive to get more protected.
I wonder if Americans actually believe healthcare in Europe is "free". Like, everyone pays a monthly sum, and depending on the country a hefty one. 10000000% better than the american system, but nothing is free in life, except death.
I think the major point in Europe is the price regulation of drugs and healthcare services. That's what keeps things manageable.

Well, I mean they weren’t free. The gov paid the drug companies quite a lot if I recall correctly. Free would be even better though.
I feel like if you asked a conservative (which I assume this guy is) "should insulin be given away for free to save lives and ease the burden of illness?" he'd say no, because he's a stupid sack of shit that doesn't care about other people even if that would improve his own life. And double-no if those people were getting free treatment.
But even taking that point of view, asking "should everyone be given free covid jabs so that you are less likely to catch it from them and die" seems like it would be an obvious yes.
Sadly for Americans covid got caught up in the omni-struggle over there.
It is not like big pharma and the military industrial complex would treat us like lab rats. These anti vaxers are stupid. Like my nation... which is comminting a genocide for the epstein class would ever do such a thing. I trust my goverment.... I am no fool.
