Let me save you some trouble: It costs $20 to make an account.

[–] MithranArkanere@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

Yeah. Not falling for that.

New logo looks like shit compared to the old one

The original twitter bird was inspired by a third party app called Twitterific. They didn’t really use a bird, and blue, before it, IIRC.

It was also originally Twittr. Like Flickr. And Letterboxd.

I did always think it was stupid that he bought a site with pretty great branding (twitter/tweets/the bird graphics etc) and immediately got rid of most of that branding.

A new and notable feature is the automated fact-checking tool, a Gemini-based “veracity engine for real-time analysis” (“Vera” for short), which runs on every tweet.

Lol, they added 'Grok is this true' to the entire platform, just dead on arrival.

X registered and still owns Twitter according to the USPTO in class 38, 41, and 45.

The payment service applied for class 36, 41, 42. Class 41 is duplicate and a problem..

That said, X will have to prove its use in commerce to renew if contested and has a duty to defend it's brand. If my limited knowledge serves... Best luck.

Finally Twitter's name and logo isn't a ripoff of the X Windowing System(maybe)

[–] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Not sure if we really need more social media.

[–] TheChargedCreeper864@lemmy.ml 10 points 4 days ago

Should've been a Nitter instance

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago

They're probably trying to give Phoenix vibes with the new logo, but I'm not Pheelin' it.

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Twitter, formally X, formally Twitter

[–] naught101@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

That's pretty funny. And the trust thing is a cool idea (devils in the details though). If they committed to federation I'd be onboard.
