Sock/sock then shoe/shor because i keep my shoes by the door
Shoe shoe sock sock for me.
Sock shoe for me. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. There's no amount of sweeping and two Roombas that gets all the hair, even with hardwood flooring.
I'm just barefoot most of the time
Sock/sock shoe/shoe. Because having one foot warmer than the other while I'm tying my laces is unreasonably annoying.
Sock/shoe, sock/shoe usually. I never wear socks unless I am putting on shoes to leave the house, so i collect the socks and shoes I'm wearing and put them on all at once right before I leave. Sock/shoe, sock/shoe minimizes the possibility of my socks picking up stray hair/lint/etc and shoving it into my shoes.
A changing bench I designed and am currently finishing. Current shoes go on the surface next to the pad. Additional shoes for winter, dress shoes, etc. go below. Slide-out hamper in the middle.
I put on one sock and if I'm putting on my shoes at the same time, I then put on a shoe, because my leg is up on my knee so why switch back and forth? The shoe is right there next to me, so I put it on. Also, apparently I'm a "savage" for choosing to wear shoes in my own house. So be it. RAWR!

Socks are for fops. Barefoot or sandals. I put them on one at a time.

In the winter I often switch from regular socks used with shoes on cleared sidewalks to warmer socks and boots when working in snowy spots. Even then I switch both socks out before putting on either boot. Mismatched socks feel so wrong.
here is the thing. I think the meatheads argument is better but I still prefer to do it like archie.
Socks first then shoes. My brain prefers to take care of similar tasks when repetition of several steps is involved.
I like to be different and go shoe/sock

Why are am I being interrogated?
In most cases socks then shows. My shoes are by the door so it doesn't make sense to do anything else; shoes are gross and not wearing them inside is better.
Exception: I injured my back and doing sock+shoe was easier but, still, by the door
Want to weigh in with one more sock/shoe situation: when I'm in the changing room at the pool and the floor around me is wet from me dripping all over, there is no other place to put a socked foot down, so it goes straight into the shoe.

Depends on the socks. Short socks it's sock, shoe, sock shoe. Long socks it's sock, sock, trousers, boot, boot

Feels more symmetrical. Plus, having one foot with a shoe with the other being barefooted feels awkward

This does not require an explanation, there is a correct answer and people doing it the other way are wrong.
If I’m going to work, sock/sock, shoe/shoe for what I would hope are obvious logistical reasons.
If I’m off, neither. I don’t actually care for footwear and if I have to venture out I have sandals and I don’t mind rawdogging the porch or lawn.
If I’m drunk it’s a free for all. Shoe/shoe, or Shoe/sock, or just sock, not necessarily where said sock is designed to go.
