I recently heard a take of "what boomers don't understand about millennials and younger generations is that we don't expect anything good to happen ever again." I've talked to a lot of friends about this and the general consensus is "...yeah" not a single person has disputed it, even a little. When I mentioned this to my dad, he complained that his social security might be reduced in the next few years.

I'll have fun paying for his before then, though
I saw a debate where someone said "All of my friends are in their 30s. None of them have kids. None. Do you know how hard you have to abuse a mammal to make it stop having kids?"
And now I think we have an answer to that question.
In my friend group, there is one person who has a kid. One. We're all late 20s, early 30s.
I don't expect it, but I'm also not going to be complicit in them getting worse. Lethargy and cynicism means you've already lost, which is what the assholes at the top want.
We will not go quietly into that good night.
With you 100% I think millennials have been taught our whole lives that those at the top will take anything we don't nail down. We'll keep nailing things down, continuing with the expectation that the world will continue not to be made for us
i mean... i hope good things will happen, but yeah i don't expect them to. especially when we look at the climate crisis, we're probably one of the last generations that'll remember the world when it was relatively normal
i just hope i die before the whole planet is forced to ration drinking water

I'd argue the AI bubble is still getting worse, just more slowly
It's starting to show its cracks (see Facebook), I'll count that as getting better.
Why do you think Linux and FOSS are getting worse? It's an enormous ecosystem.. hard to say one way or the other, but there are a lot of really good mature products right now.
I think they're responding to the original image which states "Is there anything that isn't getting worse?"
I agree. Things are NUTS right now but there's some truly incredible stuff going on in the open source anything space, and I'm happy to be here for it. :)

If you want some good news: the earth is greener than it was 20 years ago. About 5% greener, mostly due to big tree planting projects in India and China, but also due to de-desertification efforts on the edges of the Saha, Forrest restoration in the Americas rewilding efforts in Europe (which are also introducing native wildlife back to Europe like wolves, bison and beavers) and even the redesigning of urban centres to include more green space.
Is it green enough to offset the amount of people & pollution from billionaires that we have now vs 20 years ago?

... people are still blaming taco bell for taylor farms' latest fuckup? even after taylor farms has fucked this up multiple times in the past and taco bell was the first to pull stuff that wasn't safe to sell?
Idk I heard there were fourish cases for that food poisoning linked to Taco Bell. But I still eat there twice a week
Yes, linked to Taco Bell because Taco Bell sources their produce from Taylor Farms ....
Like the Spanish flu, they are taking the blame for adressing the issues. There where many places giving people the shits, but only really taco bell was adressing the issue by pulling the lettuce and informing people.
Tale as old as time, try to do some good and get labeled the bad guy by those who only react to surface level information.
No good deed goes unpunished.
I think they where worried (rightly so) that if they did not address the issue it would come to really bite them in the ass later and likely assumed they would not be the only ones getting the tainted lettuce to come forward. Instead they did the very least they could do (stop selling the lettuce and warn people), and now they are known as a key source to the mess.
I think the thing that gets me though is unlike the Spanish flu there is a clear villain in the story, Taylor Farms. Somehow I doubt the real name behind the shits will never really get in a proper level of shit.
