Scott the Woz?!

Isn't most modern comput-o-communication done with fiber optics these days? And the power supply wires are often made from aluminum. Very little copper in them data centers what with the insatiable greed of their CEO's.

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Plenty of copper in the switch gears, and at the panels. Single mode fiber is used as backbone for long runs. Multimode is used for backbone between closets.

Data centers may use cat 8 wire which also doesn't have much copper in them but, those big fuck ass CRAC units gots plenty of copper.

I'll inform the crackheads.

Don't forget to tell them about all the gold plating. It's a veritable gold mine in there

Plenty of memory and processors. Thats the real haul. Sell that ram to gamers like crack cocaine.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Most of it is GPU RAM that those gamers won't be able to use.

But well, I'm not going to shame anyone because of a low yield.

[–] Aqivex@fedinsfw.app 7 points 1 day ago

Most of it is GPU RAM that those gamers won't be able to use.

Not yet, and not with that attitude. If a comrade were to facilitate the means of production via alleged seizing there of, a list of how to get them in the hands of the correct furries and/or thigh-high sock aficionados could be sourced relatively easily...

There's quite a bit of folk itching to get their soldering irons heating and the jank started ahead of the bubble collapse.

[–] cardboardboxfort@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So why is there a memory shortage if the data centers are using a type of ram that gamers can't even use?

[–] Gimmin@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 1 day ago

Because the raw material (wafers) that make the gaming ram get consumed making data center ram instead.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Because the fabrics can make either one or the other.

I reduced my taxable income with one quick simple trick. (I became unemployed)

Welcome to late-stage capitalism. The only way to make it in this world now is through either gambling or scamming.

I'm already scrambling. Maybe I should try scambling?

[–] RobotToaster@mander.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

I don't know how to make my own cryptocurrency though 😔

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 1 points 1 day ago

No that's when you go gambling while badly greened out

[–] cardboardboxfort@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Could one improve their scambling ability by becoming the president of the united states? Asking for a friend.

Tax evasion is the best thing one can do.

less money for the government, more money for you to help others as you intend.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 6 points 1 day ago

And under a fascist government who killed programs to help the needy, tax evasion is ethical

[–] lowleveldata@programming.dev 5 points 1 day ago

helping yourself (the poor people)

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

These are not necessarily opposed

[–] chunes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Same thing these days, actually.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I'm tired of all my money and labor going to the pedo murderers.
