As it should be. My cat is aware that he's allowed to do as he pleases.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

Nobody attacks my owner but me!

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My cat does not attack me. Mere minutes ago she walked up, brushed her side on my shin and meowed for pets. Because she's mentally healthy. Someone living here should be, might as well be the cat.

My cat and I wrassle for fun sometimes tho. Usually when she's on the nip and I'm high

I attack things that aren’t there.

When he's barking at an empty corner of the room at 3AM, it's creepy AF.

I have only been mean bitten (excluding play bites,) by Chihuahuas. 4x. All in the same year. They were all like bonafied mexican patronized dogs too, (I don't like to use the word own,) but I still love chihuahuas.

I do wonder if in Mexico, if you knock on some rich dickheads door trying to sell him on Jesus or some shit, if he releases the chihuahuas on you rather than the hounds. 'Run essay!'

Also the police should use them, but like, an entire pack of the little bastards.

My cats never attack me. Probably cause they're never bored. Big wild yard with lots of plants and trees. Lots to do. Lots of neighborhood cats visiting. They live a life of privilege. Now city cats on the other hand... you wanna keep one in an apartment, you better be working full-time entertaining that thing.

Yeah, my wife scooped up two black cats off the street and brought them home 12 years ago. One, Rudi (RIP) was the temperamental one, she would come lay on your lap but if you brushed her too many times she'd get pissed off. The other, Bruce Willis, is the coolest motherfucker alive, a real credit to his namesake. Rudi might go as far as my porch, but Bruce is a neighborhood wanderer.

That being said, Bruce has been in fights with other animals many times sometimes winning, sometimes losing, always really loud and in the middle of the night and I have to wake up and sort things out. Rudi got in one fight because we forgot her on the porch. Poor Rudi. She would later swallow something and it killed her. She was a pain in the ass but we still loved her.

My cats who stay inside don't attack me either. I do try to play with them daily but that's about it, they mostly keep each other entertained, or the younger, more playful one comes to yell at me (or even starts tossing his favorite "fetch plushie" at me sometimes) when I haven't played with him enough

Cat Owner essentials checklist:

  • Litterbox
  • litter
  • food
  • water bowl
  • carrier
  • hydrogen peroxide
[–] Neptr@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (12 children)

Hydroperoxide actually worsens the healing process of cuts. Use plain water & soap, and some rubbing alcohol of you feel you need it.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hopefully it's better than the Mercurochrome that we grew up with

(got a scratch/wound) Parent: "Go get the Iodine", Me: NOOOOOOOOOOO

[–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ha I’ve never actually looked into it, thanks. Never used H2O2 growing up but my partner did from my father in law.

[–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Send quickly cause we needed to leave 😳

My partner’s father always used hydrogen peroxide to treat fresh cuts, so when I met my partner we always used it too. Never did that before meeting them.

[–] Viceversa@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

My personal experience tells otherwise 🤷

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today -2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

you have to seek antibiotics for cat scratch/bite fever.

[–] Neptr@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 22 hours ago

Not saying that isn't true, but I have never needed to do that.

I have never been scratched by a cat where blood was drawn. I can't remember even less than that.

Other than this trailer park, I went in, lady says don't worry about the dog, watch the cat. I was like yeah ha ha. Cat fucking ninja jumped me from on high somewhere, was trying to scratch me, just got my clothes.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 53 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The infographic is wrong: the cat has no owners: it owns the humans (and attacks them).

[–] popekingjoe@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

"I own and attack the creature that thinks it owns me."

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 day ago

Should not the last read: I attack my servants?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

both dogs and cats will eat the owner if given the chance.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 22 hours ago

I doubt my cat would eat me, he barely tolerates it if I change the flavor of kibble beside I don't taste like his favorite foods which appears to be grass, fluff, and spiders.

One day I was in the kitchen and my cat jumped on the heating radiator because she wanted to get pet. When I finished petting her, she turned around on the radiator and her toe got stuck in the grill on top of it. She immediately started screaming and I tried to free her. She was in so much panic she bit and scratched me. My other cat was upstairs but he came down and jumped in my back to defend her because he heard her scream as if she was being murdered.

I managed to shake him of my back and to pull her toe free. I was worried she was injured, but luckily she had no wound and walked fine afterwards. There was blood on her, but it was all mine from when she bit me.

That was the only time she bit or scratched me and she is 14 years old now. The other cat is now 16 years old and I do occasionally get scratched by him. Most of the times it's because he's a bit clumsy. One time when I was trying to sleep, he decided the best way to cross the bed was by walking over my face. He slipped and scratched my nose. Last week he scratched my neck when he tried to get on my shoulder but misjudged the jump.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

I mean my cats come to keep the dogs in line via slap when they get into trouble, it's kind of a problem tbh.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Like a cat would claim you're it's owner.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 5 points 1 day ago

Well no, the cat's describe us as their bitches.

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

"You mean that tall bald cat that walks funny? Yeah, weird fella. Good scavanger though, always has food around"

[–] 666dollarfootlong@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (9 children)

Cat bites are no joke, I was recently bitten by one and my arm hurt for almost two weeks. Not sure if putting on a tourniquet was the best idea, but tbf I did think I was gonna bleed to death without it, so that seemed more important than disinfection. Fortunately took only ~15min to have it seen by a doctor and get prescribed anti-biotics.
