I just finished IT: Welcome to Derry. Finished it in a day and it was great.

Now I think I’ll finish The Crown. I got a couple seasons in and stopped watching. But I think I’ll finish.

Try Widows Peak, light horror with Stephen King vibes.

Watching Ted Lasso for the second time. Such a good show

The Gentlemen started a second season. Pure Guy Richie, innit?

Currently rewatching MASH because I am in one of those periods where I'm having trouble starting a new show and I love the nostalgia hit of the theme song transporting me to 1995 and it's Sunday afternoon and we just got home from church and Mom is pulling a roast out of the oven. Anyway, watch MASH. It's good.

They mailed in the last 5 years of MASH.

Disagree. That's some of the best of the series.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys

It's kind of a fantasy action adventure soap opera. A great cleanser from today's overtly gritty crap. Cheap fun I barely have to pay attention to to enjoy.

I may not agree with Kevin Sorbo politically but I love the heck out of that show.

[–] karashta@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

Same. He's an awful person, but man this show is just good fun

I'm currently watching Silo S03. It's a great show, but it was already recommended.

It depends what are you looking for.

  • Good action story: Ling Cage (Chinese anime), Ore dake Level Up na Ken (anime), Death's Game (Korean TV show)
  • Love story (chance to cry like a child): Hotel Del Luna (Korean TV show), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Korean TV show), Clannad (anime)
  • Good laughs: Grand Blue (anime), Red Dwarf (British TV show)
  • Something to fuck up your mind: Girl from Nowhere (Thai TV show), Steins;Gate (anime), 12 Monkeys (American TV show, NOT the movie)

Sticking with Strange New Worlds, though it's getting exhausting trying to scrape off the exact right amount of surface crap to see if the actual plot and characterization of this week's genre pastiche is actually decent. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

I also just started TOS s3, and Spock's Brain isn't that bad. The endless slog of flimsy backlot-filmed concepts in s2 was way worse.

Ted Lasso S4 is coming around, but that show deeply, deeply misses Bill Lawrence's voice. Too many actions are being driven by gag potential and sitcom tropes rather than arising out of character. Also, they let Michelle and the doctor off way too easy, but I'll say no more.

Lanterns continues to be pretty good. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre have really good chemistry.

Anime-wise, my kid introduced me to Bofuri and if she doesn't want to get back to it soon, I may watch it on my own. I do find it interesting how much fantasy manga and anime engages so directly with CRPG and TTRPG mechanics and tropes, or even (like Bofuri) just removes the curtain and sets it in a game.

Started watching the next generation of The Grand Tour, and i’m pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure if these three will ever be as good as Clarkson Hammond and May, but they are already better than all the versions of top gear after CHM. They picked three proper car nerds rather than celebrities.

Rewatching The Americans and Steven Universe, both great. I’ll probably watch Snowfall again next, before checking out that “snowfall story” that’s been getting pushed by FX.
