We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

The GameCube came out when I was a senior in high school. That first night my friend and I stayed up all night and beat Rogue Squadron. It was awesome.
Then going into college the next year with Smash Bros was amazing. Tournaments in the dorm lobby all the time. The handle was such a good idea.
It was the first console I bought with my own money. I got it with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, which I enjoyed quite a bit, and quickly learned the need for memory cards.
I was excited about the Resident Evil 1 remake even before I got my GameCube, and it blew me away with his good it was. I proceeded to get all the other Resident Evil games and became a fan.
Metroid Prime was the first Metroid game I ever played, and was also amazing. I've 100%end it a few times.
Eternal Darkness, Super Smash Bros Melee, and Pikmin were also highlights, and who can forget Link in Soul Calibur II.
And I bought Doshin the Giant, which should really be more popular.
But I think my biggest moment was booting up F-Zero GX and seeing the Nintendo and Sega logos at the same time. As somebody who lived through the Mario vs Sonic rivalry, this was huge. And the game was incredible.
It was the first new console I owned. I still have it and play it quite a bit. I could probably play Luigi's Mansion blind at this point. Also I love Sunshine. And Double Dash, Air Ride, Melee, Wario World, all the Mario Parties. Then the weirder ones that were multi platform like Zapper, Tak, Looney Tunes, Pacman World 2, and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger.
Gamecube was the best. I wasted so many hours playing Super Smash Bros Melee and Mario Kart Double Dash. I had only gotten to play Ocarina of Time on a friend's N64, so I finally got to play that one too. I went through a ton of games. X-Men Legends, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, there's too many to name. One of my favorite consoles of all time.
It really was something special. It came out during my formative years, and the Double Dash, Sunshine, and Luigi's Mansion discs were in the cube so much. Also the best controller of all time. So comfy.
I'd like to highlight the Gameboy player as well as the ability to connect a GBA to it for certain games. Nintendo at this time was really trying out a lot of interesting and unique ideas.
There are so many great games on it, and it was the birthplace of several fantastic series that are still going strong today. Some of my favorite games for the system include: Pikmin 1 and 2, Zelda WW and TP, Super Mario Sunshine, Kirby Air Rider, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Animal Crossing, Starfox Adventures and Assault, Star Wars Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike, Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2, and finally Soul Calibur 2. What an absolute fucking banger of a system.
The GameBoy player was so clutch! I remember getting the player as a kid and having no idea how to hook it up to the console haha. My dad and I refused to read the instructions and finally figured it out together. Once we got it hooked up, I spent weeks playing the Legacy of Goku from my GBA on the TV, and it ended up being the very first video game that I ever beat.
We got ours a little while after it came out for Christmas, I think this was in 2002, and it is a core memory.
My grandmother gave my siblings and I a gift. We opened it and it was a cool GameCube game, but we had to break it to her that we only had the GameBoy and it wouldn't work with our consoles. We went through explaining what the differences were in the different gaming consoles, and she hit us with the "I'm an old person, I didn't know there were different consoles" bit. My dad was laughing in the background, and I thought he was laughing at her for being old and not knowing about video games. Then a few gifts later, my dad handed us this heavier box and imagine the surprise of an 8, 7, and 4 year old when it turned out to be the GameCube. My siblings, dad, and I played the shit out of so many games together.
I have vivid memories of spending hours with my little brother and sister on the floor of our living room, taking turns on Animal Crossing. We played together almost every weekend to pull all the weeds that grew in our town, since we rarely played during the school week. It was so cool when we discovered Mr. Resetti by accident. Little things like that in GameCube games made it such a cool console for kids.
I was always moderately poor so I’d sell off my old consoles and games for bewere generations. I’m super sad about it meow but I’m going back and collecting. Still need to get a GameCube.
I really loved Animal Crossing, LoZ: Windwaker, Pokémon XD, Paper Mario, Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, and Super Monkey Ball. I guess I was kinda basic.
I really loved games that would give me something for connecting my SP.
I tried some other stuff, XIII, Killer7, Batman, Smash, Metroid Prime, etc but I wasn’t very good at them.
Games that were multi-platform I preferred on PS or Xbox.
my most played GC games were: Melee, Metroid Prime 1+2, Resident Evil 4, and Mario Party/Kart
to this day, still some of the best games I've ever played. regretfully didn't have the Zelda or Pokemon (console) games, or any JRPGs
Gamecube was the first time I had a console that was still relevant! For the first time I could talk with my friends about games they were actually currently playing, instead of constantly bringing up games they hadn't touched in years. I just dug my gamecube back out and hacked it a couple months ago, and have been having a blast replaying Phantasy Star Online again! PS2 will always be my favorite console, but gamecube was definitely a good one too.
As a kid I got GameCube as a reward for learning the multiplication tables from 1 to 10. The first game I got for it was Super Smash Bros Melee and I played the shit out of it with my friends. On my birthday we had a big tournament, and four controllers of course. Metroid Prime, 007: Everything or Nothing, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.... that console is my all-time favorite.
I was just looking through some old programs on my computer, and I came across Warp Pipe. I believe it was a third-party app that allowed internet play of Mario Kart: Double Dash. That port on the GameCube could be used to connect two systems locally, and play up to 8 players in a race. I'm not sure what other uses it had. This app somehow allowed it to work online! I only had a brief time with it and don't remember much other than it might have been a choppy experience, but I did just run across that file and it brought back the memory, along with your post!
Plus, I wish they'd revive Chibi-Robo!!
Wave Race Blue Storm was bundled with mine so that was me sorted for the first 6 months :/
After that is was all the big hitters for me as the GameCube was the first time I had my own income :D
I think most of my GameCube time has been spent in Resident Evil 4, loved that game
I remember dishing through Twilight Princess in a weekend or two.
... And then losing the memory card somehow. Which kind of ended my time with it.
Phantasy Star Online (with the broadband adapter, and also local co-op with a couple of my high school buddies), Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (I had all A ranks!), Super Smash Bros. Melee (an especially big hit in college!), Soul Calibur II, Metroid Prime... there was some great stuff on the Gamecube!
