Shocking. Absolutely shocking I say.
The legacy Hulu/ESPN/(ad free] Disney bundle for $25 (really only $18 with Amex) was my last streaming service. Ads on Disney is going to save me $18 a month, I guess.
So what's the difference between the plans? I got used to the ads because I pay for the lower tier and still had the same content. Will they be changing the content based on tier? That path leads to more piracy than ads if you ask me.
I would guess the frequency and duration of ads.
Yo ho me harties yo ho
Moment I see an ad I will cancel, simple as that.
what the fuck is their problem. disney+ just got into being a great service with the addition of hulu (i dont care for espn but thats there too) and the app being one of the better made ones (paramount fucking sucks STILL) now they just ruined it
That's shitty.
So, this sucks, but basically puts them in line with other streaming services. They aren’t showing, like, commercials from other companies. They’re showing promotional stuff, like trailers for their other movies or shows. Usually they can be skipped, although Disney apparently does say sometimes you won’t be able to.
As far as I know most streaming services do these preroll promotions at least sometimes. It’s never really bothered me, because I skip them.
This is still different from the product and service commercials you’ll see on ad-supported plans.
Please note that I am not defending the practice, just clarifying.
Edit: Again, in no way am I trying to say this is a good thing. It’s a bad thing. But as bad things go like, on a spectrum of bad, it’s not as bad as seeing commercials for Taco Bell or something. (I understand nuance is hard, but it’s important, broadly speaking, for my sanity. Not that my sanity is in any way tied to Disney’s streaming services, just that I’ve gotten a lot of practice in nuance.)
Oh disney shows me a shit ton of commercial advertising (that fucking emu). I watch with my finger on the mute button.
