And then, on top of that, it was because of fraudulent labels, Not that it was bad, or could be bad, but it just wasn't officially checked.
and then, we don't even know if it's true. It could just be another spin of the week to look like they're cracking down on food safety after they dismantled so much of the food safety infrastructure.
Well, you have to consider why they felt the need to fake the inspection label. It has to be assumed that it wouldn't pass inspection.

It does not. Believe it or not, we don't have any laws about a mark of USDA inspection in Canada.
I already felt pretty good about not eating meat*. I think this would have have been a big motivator if I wasn't already on board
*Ok, I'm kind of a half assed vegetarian. I generally don't buy meat but if I'm at like a dinner someone else planned I might have some they cooked. It's easier than going all the way to 100%, and has reduced my meat consumption by like 95%.

This is a ridiculous YSK. They recalled a fraction of a percentage of all meat sold in the US, and it was all from a specific supplier.
Yeah it should be "check before eating", ideally with details on the supplier, and where it was sold. That's more informative and targeted

At this point even if they weren't threatening Canada I wouldn't buy American food or alcohol at all in general because their regulatory bodies are being gutted and corruption is sky rocketing.
But the dodge bros saved us something like fifty bajillion dollars, right? It all evens out, surely. There's no way up-front preventative action costs less than huge recalls, right?
Aside from beans, what's good for people who need the calories and protein?
Paneer. It's easy to make at home, just use some whole milk and lime juice. Save the whey, use it in recipes that call for adding water
For those unfamiliar, paneer is a cheese made from cow's milk, very common in Indian dishes. It doesn't melt, so you can use it largely the same way you would tofu, but where tufu has a kind of wet squishy texture, paneer is more firm and chewy. When paneer is heated, it kinda has the same texture as mozzarella when mozzarella is cold.
It's really good cut into slabs, marinated in pretty much any sauce under the sun - whatever you're in the mood for- and grilled/smoked. (edit - low temp! don't grill it like it's a steak or something, or it'll burn)
