Having had both that RT-5300 and Ethernet, they both have problems.
Wireless data links should be the exclusive domain of temporary, nomadic and/or sacrificial links.
If the channel is permanent, static, or critical; as much of the path as practicable should be provisioned with constrained energy transmission.
It's still nice to have a competent router though. Why not both? Also shield your cables!
