…faster launches? There’s already consumer burnout from the constant update cycle. This says to me, he doesn’t have any new ideas, no path to actual improvements, so he’s falling back on the bad management strategy of “cut labor + do existing practices but more.”

It is an old strategy, when a company decides to do something unpopular, to change CEOs so that they have a (knowing, complicit) fall guy. Then after the changes are done, they axe the fall guy, and bring in someone new who will “get back to our roots” etc etc, giving some minor concessions but retaining the primary changes that were architected before the fall guy showed up.

Apple is probably feeling the pressure from tariffs and decreased consumer spending, so they need to make cuts but don’t want to harm Apple’s reputation long-term. Thus the above strategy is invoked.

It’s possible, but normally companies will get a woman to be the CEO for this particular scheme.

The one thing that’s really been hurting me under capitalism is that I only get 1 iPhone a year. It needs to be scaled to at least a new phone/month for me to be truly happy in my life.

All the rubes are out there replacing workers with AI while Apple sticks with the tried and true method of squeezing ever larger amounts of labor from an ever smaller pool of workers.

“Labor laws force poor porky to downsize!”

Porky after literal decades of trickle down: “It has come to my attention I like money. So if I fire half my workforce, have the rest do their jobs free of charge. That’s more money for me! Why hire more than the smallest I can get away with?”

The news comes just weeks after Ternus took over from Cook, who served as Apple’s CEO for 15 years. Cook is now executive chairman of the company’s board, where Apple says his responsibilities include “engaging with policymakers around the world.”

Quantitative change leading to qualitative change. We’re entering a phase transition of monopoly capitalism, not that monopoly didn’t exist already, but it’s taking on a more overt political role than in the past. Everyone was focused on Elon with DOGE as a novelty, but imo it’s the new normal going forward, no matter who is in office. It makes sense from a materialist perspective, as the power of these transnational corporations is arguably larger than state power in 2026.

How will the products be released faster if less people are working, John? AI? You're going to use an LLM to tell you to put in another two cameras? Is this your brainchild?

porky-happy: “Workers will just do it! What are they gonna do? Get another job? Us porks are satisfied in that regard!”
