I dont know how true the bad luck thing is but the week my previous car died there were three black cats sitting on my car when I got off work, and I thought it might be a warning. Then the morning the radiator blew and I found oil in the coolant I thought if those cats telling me it was about to happen

My cat who loved to almost 22 was mostly black. If she was laying in the sun, you could see a few faint orange splotches.
Very cuddly with me and my wife, terrified of other humans. Also an utterly fantastic mouser who didn’t even see her first one until she was 13, but caught them like a pro.

My black cats are lovely, very cuddly, but definitely more scaredy and cautious than other house cats I’ve met. I wonder whether there’s something in their genes that makes them less trusting due to generations and generations of abuse from humans who thought they were incarnations of witches.
We had a batch of cats spawn in the back yard of my parents house, none were black but even though they were all from the same litter they all had totally different levels of trust to us from aggressive to super chill you can pick up and toss over your shoulder like a baby
