He had to make his baby announcement photo about AI agents? Dad of the year, guys.

I don't want to spend time with my kids. That's why I didn't have any.

Follow for more top gear top tips.

Funny story. My cousin's parent were super christian religious. The sect where they "speak in tongues". Anyway, they would play bible readings on tape to him at bedtime. One night, they started the tape and left the room. Some time later they heard him screaming from Hus room. Of course they came running in and found him in tears, utterly panicked. The stereo had eaten the tape or died (I don't remember), and he thought that god had died.

So yeah. Should be good.

Poor child. Having to go though all that shit

My grandparents only hid in the basement while I was napping so when I woke up and saw piles of their clothing on the floor, static on the radio, water boiling on the stove, I’d think Jesus came back, took them To heaven and left my 7 year old ass here.

As an adult, now I think they wished they could go to heaven and leave me here

[–] rustbuckett@programming.dev 3 points 8 hours ago

He actually managed to turn out pretty cool.

Please switch me to a different multiverse without Trump or AI

It is my hope that one night I'll take a rip of DMT, and when I come down, I'll have leapt to a better timeline.

Or in other words, hoping that the next leap would be the leap home.

Al says that Ziggy says I've got a 0.23% chance each time. So 🤞

[–] TransNeko@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

maybe we get lucky and some dumbass trumplican starts doing everything AI tells him to do... and then AI decides that Trump needs to die.

[–] skujcici7755@lemmy.zip 1 points 13 hours ago

Probably the opposite. He's been supported by Twitter and Facebook

[–] Naz@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

Unable to comply: Switching to a universe where the subject is deceased results in an out of scope error in execution handling.

You have been assigned the only timeline where you are still conscious and alive to make this request.

Due to privacy reasons, support cannot specify the precise conditions of termination in other timelines.

Fucking monster.

His spouse reasonably complained that an audiobook wouldn’t be in his voice. But Sng wasn’t to be outdone in the zero-effort-parenting department.

“I can train a voice model,” he countered, before addressing his readers: “Parenting hits different when you work in AI.”

Sometimes I feel bad about myself, but at least I don't say stuff like this.

[–] Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 11 hours ago

Honestly, ai-people might just fully replace reality TV in the "well, at least im not that guy"-department

Me, scrolling back up to check which community this is: hey, this isn't the onion sub"

It was considered unethical when Harlow did it to monkeys, but I guess it must be fine when parents do it to their own children, regardless of the ensuing panic disorders... 🤷

[–] MasutaHarada@thelemmy.club 1 points 18 hours ago

How much? surely it won't cost arm and legs to take care your children at home right? right?

One would think so, however knowing personally a few people deep in the AI rabbit hole.. some folks just get oddly broken.

Even if they haven't shown or spoken of their AI usage, I'm starting to be able to tell when a person has been a heavy conversational user as the way they interact with people just becomes... Unpleasantly off.

If you want to optimize a parent-child time with AI, maybe optimize it with not having children instead.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Unrelated thought, what's more resources-consuming, a child or AI?

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

AI. All the resources of the world go into it to tell you to make a sandwich.

Child. 18 years hard labor and you might make the kid to take down Skynet.

Children at last have a chance of paying off and doing something good.

[–] cman6@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Exactly what I was thinking. It makes me think of the book Four Thousand Weeks, and Chasing Daylight.

The former is about the trap of productivity and thinking you can fit more into your day than you can. Hint: no matter how much you get done in your day, you will want to try to fit in more

And the latter I don't want to spoil but there was a quote along the lines of "Gene looked at all his colleagues who wanted more and thought, do they know when they will have enough?", again the idea that we will always want more.

Reading to your child and spending time with them is enough. Forget all the other distractions the world offers you.

Fucking sociopaths.

[–] MadPsyentist@lemmy.nz 12 points 1 day ago

But this is what they do to thier kids "baby sitter. Read my child a story! It's being annoying!"

This is how the ultra rich deal with their kids. They dont understand that this isnt how normal people deal with kds genraly.

[–] eicker@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Big Tech spent years designing platforms that steal our attention, then sold us AI tools to compensate for the time we lost. Now apparently even spending time with your kids is inefficient. The endgame is becoming obvious: humans do the work, AI gets the attention, and Silicon Valley collects the subscription fees. Apparently being a parent is just another productivity bottleneck.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

Apparently being a parent is just another productivity bottleneck.

Always has been. Women have been paid less or just fired because they want to take care of the children. Usually by the same people complaining there aren't enough kids now.
