I have a well configured arr stack , i am sure of this because i used YAMS (Yet Another Media Server) to get it to work , but when i try to download using qbittorent the downloads don't go through like 90 % of the time . Most of them just end up getting stuck like in the picture .

Not all of them get stuck like that , i was able to download some albums from Lidarr , but really it's a hit and miss and most of the time it's a miss. :(

If you have an arr stack , have you faced this kind of problem before ? if so how did you handle it ?

EDIT:

Thanks guys , i just made the changes that were suggested in the comments and there was a significant improvement!

Your qbit is firewalled (see the orange flame), you want a vpn that can do port forwarding. Public trackers also lie about seed counts so you can try raising the minimum seed counts in the arrs for that trackers, in this case it looks like there are zero seeders. Public torrents also generally will have many of the trackers fail to connect like in your screenshot, not necessarily bad as long as you address the other two issues.

Check if you have a misconfigured firewall, but that torrent looks like it may just be dead

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yes i'll check , thanks !

First thought is VPN port issue. I recall changing from Mullvad to ProtonVPN because Mullvad wasn't' doing the port forwarding correctly... or so says the robot.

[–] JustARaccoon@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

mullvad doesn't support P2P and port forwarding at all, it's not that it doesn't do it correctly.

[–] rainwall@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

Mullvad does supports facists, so yet another reason to switch.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Thanks! Never used Mullvad but i use ProtonVPN on freetier so i don't have port forwarding yet , i would like to try it in the future though

You can see in the screenshot that you're failing to connect to the trackers.

Try their URLs with curl or in a browser.

If you put qbt behind a VPN, then that's probably the issue.

Thanks brother !

If your downloads are getting stuck then no, it's not set up properly. Double check your filters and custom format rules. Also, you can use Cleanuparr to automatically remove stalled downloads and trigger a new search.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I see , so your downloads don't get stuck like that most of the time?

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That torrent has no seeds. The column seeds says 0(0).

Some torrent terminology: Seeds are clients that say they have the full download, they make the system work.

Peers are clients that are trying to download, that one shows 1(2). That implies there are two clients, and you are connected to one of them. They may also have none of the download yet, and without a seed, neither of you will.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I see , Thanks!

Well, no. If they do because I'm looking for something more obscure, cleanuparr removes the dead torrent on its own. Check your indexers in prowlarr. You probably need to add some more to get decent results that have more seeds.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thanks just setup cleanuparr ! it's really amazing

Glad to hear it! I'd also recommend using a blacklist file to filter out file formats that you know shouldn't be there if you're downloading movies/tv shows. In public trackers it sometimes happens that there are malicious and have a .exe virus with the name of the movie lr latest episode. Using a blacklist you're able to easily filter that out.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't worry i use Arch BTW . so those are like cute harmless puppies for me lol

[–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They might be, but they still block the download of the actual episode or movie you were trying to get :)

Btw, Sonarr was recently updated and you can now create a Releases profile that automatically blocks malicious torrents! The whole process of setting up the arr stack can be a bit much at first, but once you get it going it's super satisfying to see everything working :)

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thanks for sharing ! While we are still on the topic , I already have Sonarr and Radarr setup but i don't use them right now. I need to get myself the proton paid tier to enjoy port forwarding and maybe faster , and more reliable downloads .

Infact i am so impatient of how long it takes to download one album from lidarr , that i made my own music downloader for now.

[–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why is it faster? Where does it download from? Also did you make it or did AI "make" it?

Personally, I just use Soulseek for music. You can integrate it into the arr stack, but I don't mind handling music manually.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It searches music from youtube as you saw there in the fields there are youtube links .

then it uses yt dl to download songs and uses simple python script to embed metadata from music brainz

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's so simple even a todler can do it bro :)

[–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 1 points 1 week ago

So AI? I will not be touching that.

Also, I download music to have high quality files that I transcode for other stuff. Youtube is far from a high quality source.

I don't know how YAMS is set up, but I keep my arr stack and my torrent docker setup completely separate, on separate computers. I use the qbittorrent PIA docker image (since my VPN is PIA) on a separate, dedicated mini PC so it only has Internet if it's connected to the VPN. I just use a static IP for both PCs on my internal network and point the arr stack at the torrent client to handle everything.

Not sure if separating them is the right solution for you, but if all else fails, it might be with a try. I prefer it that way so I can literally just unplug or turn off the torrent box if I need to without disrupting my actual media server.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I would like to try but i don't have a spare computer

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There are no available seeders on that torrent. Pick a different one.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

True ! It's really annoying when you try 5+ popular albums and none of them work , so that's why i was looking for a solution here

[–] ShutUpWesley@piefed.zip 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Could be a VPN issue. I've had issues like this that I've fixed by changing my exit server. But I'm unsure what the root cause was in those cases.

[–] ShutUpWesley@piefed.zip 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, and in the case of the torrent on screen, i just noticed it has no seeders, that would be a problem.

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Thanks that is true

[–] nexttech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I just did this right now , turns out i was using an exit server that was too far away from me . after changing it the number of downloads that go through definitely increased. Thanks
