I've recently played Resident Evil 6 for the 1st time after playing Resident Evil 4 (an absolute masterpiece) & Resident 5 (a pretty good game). I was already aware of the hate this game got over the years. But after experiencing it, it's only bad in an artificial way. Like yeah, it's nothing like the classic games and it's too much in the action category.

Otherwise, as someone who loves action games, it's a pretty fun game. Especially in Mercenaries Mode, where it's fun to mow down body-horror themed enemies. As a Resident Evil game, it's pretty bad. But...as an action third person shooter with splatter punks, it's quite well executed

The Emoji Movie. I get it, the trailers looked awful. It had 'shallow crap' written all over it. But my kids loved it, and honestly, it was a perfectly fine movie. Better than a bunch of other animated movies I've had to sit through.

Starfield. I think I got to ng7 before losing interest and I intend to go back to it if there’s ever a mod community. I’m sure there’s somebody else out there who thought it was fine but I haven’t found them.

Honestly I thought it was perfectly mediocre, I put like 25 hours into it and it was.... fine?? I didn't hate my time playing it. It was disappointing to me though, I expected better, that's all.

I saw Tron: Ares in the theater. I’m honestly indifferent to Jared Leto as an actor/person, and I was just interested in how the movie would build on the Tron universe. It don’t blow me away but I didn’t hate it either. But I get why it flopped. Sadly, it probably means we won’t ever get another Tron movie.

Every Tron movie has flopped and they still reboot it every so many years so who knows? 😅

Look, as long as they hire great musicians I don't even care about the actual movie. Best part of their mediocre Tron movies is new Daft Punk and Trent Reznor. Its hard to hate the objectively weak films when they splurge on the other stuff.

In my opinion, I will state that co-op RE5 is my favorite way to judge compatibility with someone. I know it sounds silly but playing Army of Two is kind of the same. I played RE5 with my ex-fiance, we beat the game on the highest difficulty, got all the achievements, and she wasn't a gamer--actually didn't touch video games until we were together. Now the person I last dated was a gamer, yet I don't why we struggled so much. So in a way, I had to tolerate that we couldn't work together.

I enjoyed both Battleship and Battle: Los Angeles. They were fun movies to turn your brain off to.

Battle: Los Angeles was actually a brilliant ayylmao invasion movie, I think, blatant cringeworthy video-gamey rah-rah Marine recruitment propaganda aside.

I really liked that it doesn't cut away to some scientists or The President who know exactly what's going on and explain it to us. It doesn't show the aliens being diabolical with subtitles in their mothership or something. It doesn't expo-dump to make sure we're following along comfortably. No.

You follow a bunch of Marines deployed straight into the claustrophobic fog of war after a whole ton of "WTF" just hit finally-not-New-York-for-once.

We the viewers only know what they know. They have to learn as they go, and so do we. And that's actually pretty scary.

The aliens also had such a cool and unique design. I loved their tech and the "pop pop crackle" of their machinery sputtering thrusts to stay aloft.

Danganronpa. (the games, not the anime) It's hard to defend in some places, with its abysmal minigames, nonsensical plot, and anime tropey story that gets very uncomfortable and insensitive at times. I am also of the opinion that to be cringe is to be free, but it's one of those franchises with an online fanbase that turned me off of the entire thing for a long while.

But, when I was encouraged to actually give it a fair shake, I enjoyed it a lot. At its best moments, there's some solid murder mysteries surrounded with entertaining characters and a tense atmosphere. Camp doesn't excuse the worst parts, but it definitely makes them suck a little less.

The third game in particular gets a lot of flack for its ending and I get it, it's not a very satisfying conclusion for the characters or universe and a little up its own ass. But as a reflection on the franchise, I do see what they were doing and thought it was interesting - probably more interesting than if we got actual answers for the worldbuilding questions it bypasses.

Definitely skip the anime covering the first game's events, it's way too compressed and just heinously awful in a lot of ways. Can't speak for the other anime series, the movie, or the books, though I'm still interested enough to give em a try sometime.

The games have some fantastic murder twists. After V2’s ass-pulls around its ending, and after 3’s first case, I felt like I was done. It was so weird that I could enjoy the individual murder mysteries, but once they got wrapped up in the overall crazy story they were trying to tell, I lost interest.

The Marvels. The first movie wasn't great but this sequel was genuinely pretty fun.
