My biggest concern with this is that the US government will collude with the AI companies to keep certain vulnerabilities secret, while open source projects become dependent on "free" tools from those very companies to find vulnerabilities.

Thus the US government gets exclusive backdoors without having to trick the maintainers into merging malicious code.

I don't give a fuck if it's a reactionary stand point from me but I genuinely, genuinely just want the internet to stop. I'm done. I'm tired. I'm witnessing the closure of the commons and it's ruining me. It ain't coming back any time soon. Now it's just going down the shitter more and more, with all these vulnerabilities, vibe codes trash with no safeguards. Fucking refrigerators with a web server and "admin + today's date login" for some god forsaken reason.

Just give me a mass corona event. Wipe the slate clean, and begin again. I want to see an aurora on the equator.

I know a better future is possible. Let me rant and ramble, as I watch the things I've loved and decided to pursue die around me. The open source community which gave me hope, going all in on the worst exceses of mankind. The information superhighway becoming clogged with crud. As a kid I really believed what the internet could be, I still hope it can be that. Too bad it's not. I'm going mad for the time being, until I get to think things through a materialist lens. Now I just want it all to burn down.
