For now it’ll also include “AI”-assisted projects that haven't had at least two months of (public, verifiable) dev time behind them.

A quick test I did to showcase how the Bloodborne Linux port runs.

The port is a simple appimage that runs natively on your machine. This means no CPU, GPU or any other emulation. It utilizes your actual CPU and memory and save games and configurations are mounted from a directory on your file system.

I got it from here but this obviously does not include the actual game files: https://github.com/deadinside28/bloodborne_pc

«It's all your fault!» — Sony to Sam Altman, probably

Also, I have a strange déjà vu: wasn't there a native Bloodborne recompilation a couple years ago? I remember watching a few videos about it. If I recall correctly, there was a strange cape animation, as it's internally rendered in 30 FPS, or something like that. Or was it an emulator?

Shadps4 based emulation I think. The youtuber Fromsoftserve has been working on it for years.

I think the recent recomps only started taking off after the AI boom.

FYI bbport is quite out of date compared to other forks, I highly recommend https://github.com/ayozetr/bloodborne_linux instead. It has better performance, is more stable, has online support, etc. I'm almost done with my playthrough on this build and it's perfect.

Performance wise bbport works better on SteamDeck than bloodborne_linux :/

Perfect. Thanks for the tip. Gotta give this a spin!

Cool. I'll check it out.

I got it running last weekend on my Steam Machine, and it's magnificent.

Oh, hey, me too! I used BBlauncher's Linux fork, but it seems to basically be the same process. And it's breathtaking. After setting Readback mode to relaxed, I didn't even need to install the vertex explosion fix mod or disable facegen, so I can actually make custom female characters again, with little to no performance hit.

That was the last game stuck on consoles I'm interested in that I didn't have a way of playing on PC. I only have my Steam Machine hooked up now, and it's so freeing.

Are you facing issues with the character generator too? For me the character just looks textureless, so I can't customise the looks. But other than that it just runs perfectly.

Haven't tried the latest 0.6 build yet. Perhaps its fixed there.

IMO Sony should just see the writing on the wall and just officially release this for PC.

The way big companies work, they'll probably do a Cease and Desist against all the emulator creators, a la Mariocorp with the Switch emulators

I think Sony is waiting to use a Bloodborne next gen update to bait people into buying the PS6.

Using BBLauncher 16.12 with the latest build of ShadPS4, I have not run into any serious problems with the character generator. All textures are working great.

The only (minor) problem that comes up is that occasionally the preview portraits fail to load, but if you click into those to switch to a new hairstyle/color/new number on a slider/etc and go back to the main screen, you'll see how the modification looks on the main character model.

I'd buy an official PC port of Bloodborne in a heartbeat. Disappointing that it's unlikely we'll get any port at all from Sony in the indefinite future now.
