I’m a Native American and we have been trying to warn you since 1492.

genocide is a US tradition
Don't forget Native Americans called Washington "Town Destroyer". And it was not only because he was destroying towns but also because he inherited this title from his great-grandpa who was also called Town Destroyer because he also destroyed towns. Generally, when i looks at the history of British-USA ruling class, destroying native towns was very popular among them.
Oh, and he liked that nickname.
2026
this would be so much better than what's there now. there'd be so so much seething
Right on top of what was a holy site
and intentionally so as well; just like the isrealis making jerusalem their capital.
At least Jerusalem is an important site for Israeli Jews. The area of Mount Rushmore had no cultural significance to Americans whatsoever—it was just cruelty for cruelty’s sake.
As is American tradition
Did no one teach them to share as children?
And let's not forget that the ork ass-named defacer, Gutzon Borglum, was a KKK member.
I don’t go so far as to think that the only good Indian is the dead Indian, but I believe nine out of every ten are, and I shouldn’t like to inquire too closely into the case of the tenth. The most vicious cowboy has more moral principle than the average Indian. Take three hundred low families of New York and New Jersey, support them, for fifty years, in vicious idleness, and you will have some idea of what the Indians are. Reckless, revengeful, fiendishly cruel.
Theodore Roosevelt
I don’t go so far as to think thing A is true all the time, but I believe thing A is true 90% of the time, and I would prefer to ignore those other 10% cases
The level of honesty with his prejudice is refreshing I suppose, but wow what a piece of shit
To be clear about Lincoln, he was handed a request for an even bigger mass hanging, and reduced it down to 38. He didn't think he could deny the having request entirely without ending up ignored and having even more people killed. You can call him whenever names you like, but his intent was to keep as many people alive as he thought he could.
(not so) fun facts:
- The location of the hanging is in what is now Mankato, MN.
- It is the home town of Mike Lindell (conspiracy theorist and mypillow guy)
- It is also the home town of Tim Walz, current MN governor and 2024 democratic VP candidate.
- I'm currently less than a half mile from the location
“There is only one man in all Europe with vision and courage and who fortunately has the power to carry it out, that’s Mussolini.”
It's the strongest argument yet for adding Trump, anyway.
Stop making such good points, republicans will hear you and go for it!
How is progress on the Crazy Horse monument? I’ve swung by once a decade since I was a teen, but it’s been 11yrs since my last visit.
It's going pretty well! Visited just last year and there was some noticable progress since I had seen it 5 years prior
Great to hear. Last I was there was close to a decade ago, and it looked very similar to my first viewing in the early 90s... there was a significant amount of mountain removed in that time, but visually, it was still very similar.
