As usual with right wing parties in every country the public broadcasting is seen as a threat and something to be destroyed. RNZ is a national treasure, it's not there to generate profits, it's not there to sell soap or hamburgers. It's there to inform the public and it does that better than all the commercial news outlets which is why every right wing government we elect works so hard to undermine it.
One day it will be gone because the right wing parties always seem to get what they want in the end and we will miss it. By we I of course don't mean all the people who vote for NACT and such. Just people interested in getting real information and smart analysis.
