The government has decided against recognising Palestinian statehood, retaining its "when not if" position at the United Nations General Assembly.

Its rationale is that with Hamas in place as the de facto government of the Gaza Strip and no clarity on next steps, there is not a fully legitimate and viable State of Palestine for New Zealand to recognise.

The decision leaves New Zealand with a handful of countries including Singapore, Japan, South Korea and the United States, who have not made the move.

Won't even make a symbolic gesture. Spineless.

It's no secret that David Seymour is extremely bigoted and hateful against muslims. Winston is also a well known bigot who has repeatedly express hatred and animosity against muslims and other brown people from around the world.

Given that it's no surprise that they refuse to acknowledge the right of Palestinians to live in freedom and dignity.

Meanwhile at casa del Luxon:

If I can't employ them and pay minimum wage or sell them something what good are they to me?

Maybe he could go over there and purchase some of them as slaves. I am sure the Israelis will sell some of the people they are torturing in their dungeons

I heard bits of his speach - he is sounding more and more like a grumpy old boomer

No, but it's a pretty clear message to the people of New Zealand 🙁

this is a message to the people of NZ especially to the people who are muslims or palestinians. It's a message telling them they are not human beings who are subject to the universal declaration of human rights.

It's also a message to Donald Trump that they will never waiver in their obedience and subservience to Donald Trump.
