He's not nutty, at least not for this. He's using religious superstition to get people to do what he wants by inciting fear. It's literally the thing they do daily for all the other heinous shit rightwing idiots want.
He grew up super Christian and self loathing because he’s gay. I think he really is nuts. Evil and misguided as well but also batshit crazy. This is why it is wise for society to tax the wealthy at a very high rate because it is dangerous for the entire world to let people especially narcissistic psychopaths become this powerful
