I have a simple request to anyone at Meta who is listening: please, just give us our photo sharing app back.

lol. Wake up, they're not interested in what users want, they're interested in selling your data and targeting ads.

they also want your face, facial recognition so they can incorporate it in to thier AI.

Use Pixelfed and get of the corporate cock already!

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Only problem with that: nobody uses it. None in my target userbase.

Buy they do have Internet, don't they? It's just a website. You share your photos, they can click on the link to see them. And even then: Pixelfed can be added to your home screen as a PWA. 🤷‍♂️

I know, but they don’t… i doubt they even know it exists…

Sounds like you should make a few Instagram posts about Pixelfed to teach them... 😉

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They wouldn’t follow; like NOBODY I know, or know me, is on it…

[–] mbirth@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They don’t need to be on it to follow. Every Pixelfed account also has an RSS feed.

That’s actually very cool— I still think you greatly overestimate their technical capabilities, but I could probably integrate this via my website…

First mover problem. You can be both places, whenever you promote your content you can link to both places. That way if Instagram ever breaks for good you are not left with nothing.

A photo is content. 🤨

I never really changed the way I use it. I just post pictures and watch pictures. I've never viewed stories or tried any of those other features. It's the pictures I'm there for.
