You don't get it: You're supposed to be loyal to the King, whereas he owes you nothing in return. Now be quiet peons, or else... Well, it's a nice farm you've got there. It'd be a shame if ICE happened to it.

What? Now you don't like fascism all of a sudden? Huh. How about that?

Another Betrayal.

Fixed that for them.
It's not the first, it's not the last.

Talking of betrayal, whatever happened to the "stealing of top secret documents and putting them in an unlocked room next to a fax machine for no reason, and deffo no treasonous reasons, honest" court case(s)?

He doesn't think of you at all.

He was the best part about the original movie. Played the role so well

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago

Couldnt have picked a better actor for that role

Except Toby Mcguire, he portrayed Peter as this meek nerd when he actually wasn't. Sam raimi, in my opinion, interpreted Peter that way for some reason. Peter wasn't meek, he was a smart ass THATS why Brock was his bully. Peter had a big mouth and had a tendency to make anyone look stupid.

I specifically meant JK Simmons was perfectly cast for J Jonah Jameson.

And I'm not going to blame Toby McGuire for his interpretation of Spiderman anymore than I'll blame Adam West for goofy camp 60's Batman.

For all the flak he gets, I feel like Andrew Garlfied has the best portrayal of Peter Parker.

He also hates Mondays.

Bankrupt the last remaining small ranches, then let your fascist buddies buy it up for cheap...

Then when the pendulum swings, they make out like bandits reselling or even worse, just keep an iron grip on domestic food production.

There's a lot of shit going on that needs paid attention to, but the wealthy directly controlling the food supply is gonna be a lot worse than them directly controlling the housing or utility supply.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This! Not just ranches. Farms as well.

When the dust settles, they will own your flat and your food. 2 of the largest budget positions of most people.

This is modern slavery at a large scale.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's not slavery, and it is nowhere near the horrors of chattel slavery like what happened in America.

It's fucking horrible, don't get me wrong.

But it's going to be a return to feudalism. That's always been the goal of any group that accumulates insane levels of wealth. They want to own everything and we pay them for the privilege of living.

The wealthy still get all the benefits, just none of the responsibility for us and don't have to get their own hands dirty.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 day ago

It's both.

When farms are worked by prisoners, it is slavery.

[–] Niquarl@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Under feudalism serfs were bound to the lord and land from birth to death. There's plenty different kinds of slavery

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Bound"...

My ancestors lived under a fuedal society immediately before immigrating to America.

There was no daring escape for the guy who got out, he just got out.

If he had stayed he would have been forced into joining a mercenary army for no pay where profits went to his King, but him (and many others) just fucked off instead.

If you can just walk away from a system of oppression...

I'm not saying it's not a system of oppression, but I am saying it's definitively not slavery.

[–] Niquarl@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There are many that escaped chattel slavery in the Americans so not sure what you mean by that ?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Jesus, really?

In America there was a whole civil war over if the federal government would do slave raids into the North to capture anyone that wasn't white and transport them to states where slavery was legal where they'd automatically become slaves.

Why do you think a lot of escaped slaves didn't stop till Canada?

Really tho, I shouldn't assume you knew that either.

[–] Niquarl@lemmy.ml 1 points 17 hours ago

There's a pretty famous book and then film about what you are talking about so not sure why I wouldn't at least be aware of it. Feudal society had slaves and serfs, who also had to sometimes flee to other countries as they where not allowed to leave the land/lord they were bonded too.

The "Northern States" also mostly had slaves until just before the civil war, if less prevalent than the "South". It wasn't fully the same economy at the end of the day.

I just don't understand what you are arguing ? Do you take offense from the previous commenter using the word slavery is that it?

They really think the stripper likes them!

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

it cant be a betrayal, if he has done this before, and you knowingly supported him.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

But now they can say the N word in public while going bankrupt and becoming sharecroppers

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago

You were able to do that before too

Massive shortage of beef this year. I actually see this as a win for the US Consumer. I about fell over the last time I was at Costco and Ribeye’s where 160 bucks

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

Careful there, ranchers!! Trump might just shit on you via AI if you step out of line

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 33 points 1 day ago (2 children)

https://www.npr.org/2025/09/18/nx-s1-5534424/beef-prices-record-high-cost

us beef prices are at a record high ... US ranchers want US Americans spending even more on beef ?

[–] robolemmy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 1 day ago

Of course they do. Have you not been paying attention to capitalism?

That is mentioned in this article as well, though not by name. One of the rancher's recommendations for bringing down the cost is to break up the meat packing monopolies. We desperately need to enforce and expand anti-trust laws
