An estimated 100,000 nurses, teachers and public sector staff walked off the job in New Zealand on Thursday to call on the government to better fund and resource public services, in one of the country’s largest ever strikes.

The so-called “mega strike” brought together workers from multiple sectors, including more than 60,000 school teachers, 40,000 nurses and salaried medical specialists and 15,000 public service staff.

I like the (tangentially related) bit where Simeon Brown is saying it's unacceptable that Nelson Hospital's generator failed.

The minister of cutting funding to the health sector says it's unacceptable. Maybe he will provide that boost to health funding that doctors and nurses are striking over?

I was gonna make this a tshirt for the rally using the national N logo but didn't get my A into G. Kinda fortunate the weather forced the demonstration to be cancelled 'cos I was feeling guilty about it...

Still might organise it just in case
