This was the plan all along. It became enormously influential, so Trump is forcing China to sell it to MAGA and become ANOTHER mouthpiece for the Conservative Propaganda Machine. They did it to Twitter, they did it to Reddit, and now they're going to do it to TikTok.
i peeked over r/space, and there were people complaining about reddit deleting comments, and promoting right wing content, i was thinking your not helping by still using the platform. they were aslo discussing moving to lemmr, but they claim lemmy isnt good enough for one reason or another.
I like Lemmy, I certain only am freer to speak my mind, although the mods can get pretty weird here, too. Mods are mods, whaddayagonnado?
I miss the multiple massive forums devoted to hobbies and interests. I love guitars and animals, and Lemmy doesn't do either one very well, or any other lifestyle forums, for that matter.
I can scratch my political itch, but not much more.

I mean it already is the biggest superspreader of far right content in Europe and I would assume in the US as well. But please don‘t come with anecdotes about your TikTok experience because it‘s the most personalized content platform so it‘s irrelevant what your feed looks like right now. I‘m saying this because often times at least one TikTok user will rush in to defend the platform with their personal experience whenever this is brought up.
The political part of my feed is pretty much hard left wing - but when I open the comments the top responders are the most right wing PoS's I've ever seen. Which is so stupid because they'll have max 200 thumbs up while a rational left wing respons will ratio them out of the water
thats astroturfing, the troll farms have thousands of bots that can do that at once.

It's used to divide but I think it leans the opposite way in north America. The GOP wouldn't have such a hate boner for it if it was pushing the same bullshit they are.
Hard to remember but I think a lot of pro Palestinian vids were on tiktok while the other social media sites were suppressing it when it all started. I only heard of this, I don't have an account.
It's leaning in Europe is well known though.

Brother the only fucking content on that app was stupid people fighting over rights to own trends and people giving fuel to the "LGB without the T" clowns. Just a fucking shitshow of an app. I saw an 11 year old child trying to get a girlfriend on there too.
