So wild that Facebook still is a thing.

I agree, and I cannot find a replacement for local buying/selling and marketplaces. So many local small businesses only exist online through their Facebook page.
This is such embarrassing reporting from The Verge. Leave it to the AI reporter to fail to understand a very basic survey I guess.
Far from a relic, Facebook remains a fixture for more than 70% of Americans.
~~This is literally not what the study says. The study says that 70% of people who used some type of social media used Facebook. Not 70% of Americans.~~
Edit: This is what the study says! I am the embarrassment. I still think their conclusions are kind of dumb, provided Facebook is used for many things.
Here’s the gist of the question they asked:
% of U.S. adults who say they ever use ...
People who didn’t answer weren’t included in the graph.
And, if someone used Facebook for a buy/sell/trade transaction, it’s counted as “social media” usage.
No wonder YouTube is at the top. Yikes.
Maybe I need to read more about their respondents.
Congrats on admitting you were incorrect.
No, really, more people should do that. It takes elf awareness and humility. Good for you.
Not sure how you got to that conclusion. The survey prompt was "Please indicate whether or not you ever use the following websites or apps." 29% responded that they do not use the platform, less than 1% did not respond. That's 70%.
You’re right, I was misreading pages 41 and 42 of the data and I was annoyed instead of being curious.
I appreciate the correction!
Why do these studies include YouTube as a social media network?
Might as well include Medium.
But remember folks, it’s “not a monopoly.”
WHERE IS LEMMY ON THE CHART
I don't consider this social media.
No real names. Ability to curate your feed.only the information you choose to share.
It's just a shitload of forums in one place.
