They knew before Congress.

[–] youngGoku@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

That's insane to me. The U.S. President can now act unilaterally to engage in war with foreign countries without approval, or even knowledge from congress...

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 63 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To be fair, they needed to get their polymarket bets down first.

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

I hate this timeline. Daily fantasy already ruined sports now its coming for everything else.

Let me take this opportunity to yet again say FUCK THE TROOPS. I have no sympathy for any of our service people. You have agency. You don’t actually have to do the awful shit that you are doing.

The corporate media is entirely captured by our entrenched oligarchy and we need to treat them accordingly.

Choice 1 be dirt poor or join the military

Choice 2 obey orders or get thrown in military jail

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Welcome to the choice everyone makes. Not everyone decides murder of random civilians has a price.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So you think they should do murder to keep themselves out of jail?

Would you murder someone because you were threatened with jail if you didn't?

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There are plenty of troops that just repair cars. Maybe those cars get used for murder, maybe they don't. It's a complex moral problem that is different for everyone at different levels.

By saying fuck the troops, you are falling into the trap the owners want. You are focusing on pawns rather than the kings they want to be.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Kings are useless without pawns doing their bidding

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 1 points 2 months ago

So don't attack the pawns, recruit them.

How about innocents in Venezuela? Do we have a count for how many of then died?

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I heard 40 dead in Venezuela.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 16 points 2 months ago

Another Nazi headline. Proper 1:

NYT & WaPo protected Nazis invading Venezuela so that they could abduct a President in broad daylight without intervention.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wish everyone involved in that "raid" a slow and painful death. "Endangering US troops" my ass those assholes deserve to be endangered.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world -2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Think about the us citizens currently in Venezuela...

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Thought about them. What now?

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

According to the republican doctrine, you pray.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why just US citizens? Other lives don't count?

[–] HarneyToker@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

The above commenter means “How could a US president do something so drastic and illegal when there are US citizens currently in Venezuela?” The context justifies singling out Americans.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

Basically been State Department mouthpieces for some time now.

[–] Ancalagon@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Well yeah, easily jail them if they did release it.

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Kegsbreath and Signal, what a pair

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Utterly disgusting.
