I mean this isn’t a conspiracy. I don’t think the federal government as bad as it is has a program in place to steal antlers from private land.
This is probably some pilot or lieutenant who wanted some antlers that he saw while flying over the wilderness and set down to grab them.
If I were the rancher who owned the land and it was a one off thing I’d probably think it was funny. If they did it all the time I’d probably have a different opinion.
The article confirms what you claimed. The pilot decided to land to collect antlers. All three people on the helicopter were charged with tresspassing, the NG added a standing order of "don't do that", and the antlers are likely going back to the landowners.
I don't respect their private land since they didn't respect our public land.

Makes you wonder if it was some stupid thing where the makers of Yellowstone rented access to a helicopter for filming, then when they were filming had them land someplace thinking they were on still on another ranch or public property.
All I can say is if you have enough land to not know a military helicopter landed in your yard, you've got a lot of land

In the grander scheme of things, is there a reason to care about this? I mean there's a lot of shit going on in this country, a whole lot of crimes being committed by the authorities in charge. I'm not going to list it all right here, cause that seems like a truly monumental and depressing task. But let's pretend that I did just list some of the truly heinous things that representatives of the US government are doing right now... in light of that, in comparison to all that, why does this matter to anyone?
Because when military people think they are above the law, we get dead citizens.
I think that's actually a really good answer. There needs to be strict adherence to codes of conduct within the military, or we get all kinds of problems.
At least the article suggests that the situation is mostly under control, it certainly sounds like they're going to try to crack down on this.

Who the fuck "owns" mountains? I don't own a fucking mountain. Only nature owns mountains. Give it back to the public, instead of encouraging this nightmare ownership scenario.
I mean, I guess it matters to the person the land belongs to. they said in the article that they left tire marks and the exhaust also damaged the site. so there's the environmental concern.
but more importantly, just because there are more important things to worry about, doesn't mean you can't also worry about this. it's not a mutually exclusive sort of thing, you can care about more than one problem at a time if you want to.
Ok, I did say "why does this matter to anyone?", and you're right about the land owner, clearly it matters to them. Fair enough.

You say that, but I am learning first hand that I have a finite capacity for injustice and misery. I see awful shit in the news, sometimes far away, but sometimes very close to home and I see it every day. It takes a toll on your mental health, caring about everything, taking a moment to ask yourself "is there something I can do about this?" - it's especially hard when the answer you come up with is "not really".
I think one really does have a limited amount of bandwidth for this kind of thing, and we absolutely have a limited amount of time. So even if you did care about everything, it's certainly not feasible to act on everything. And just carrying all those concerns that you know you're never going to act on, that cannot be healthy.
Sometimes you just need to let something go, say "this is not my concern". I don't believe there's anything wrong with that, so long as you make an effort to decide which things are important enough to care about, even when you're at your limit.
I certainly understand that things can be overwhelming right now, and nobody should feel forced to burn themselves out with trying to keep up with all the shit going on. But many people clearly care about this, too - so if you do not, why are you here, commenting about it? If it's stressing you out, scroll past it
