The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Because enough of the people who would be responsible for stopping this senile psychopath see him as THEIR senile psychopath and they're more interested in seeing the people they don't like get hurt than they are in preserving the rule of law or the constitution. The rest could try to send a message by pushing for articles of impeachment, but the message it sends is entirely wrong if and when he's just fully acquitted by his ruling party.

This incidentally is a big part of why the mid-term election is going to be so important. If his shitstick cronies get thrown the fuck out then maybe something useful will actually get done about him.

Guess what, the constitution of the People's Republic of China also has freedom of speech... see how that turns out in practice...

A constitution just a piece of paper.

It's like paper money, it only has value if people believe it has value.

For the rule of law, that means those in positions of power, the 3 branches of government, the military, and ultimately, the people collective action/inaction to hold the government accountable.

Because when he is coherent he hates the right people.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 5 points 5 days ago

Because hes a fascist and pro fascists will love him no matter what because fascists are fucking morons.

[–] Big_Boss_77@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 5 days ago

Because he must serve 2 years so when they hit him with the 25th, Ol' Couchfucker McGuyliner can reign 2 years and then run two more times.

Because Mitch McConnell and the regular corporate GoP have been planning this for decades, getting legal precedents in place, getting judges into the right spots across the US, all of it.

The religious right were used as tools by them and the GoP elite always assumed they had exclusive control of them. Then Trump comes along and upends their control, and now Trump is a barely present fool and the religious right(see: Stephen Miller) are in full control of all three branches of the US fed.

Because trump is largely irrelevant.

His job is distraction-in-chief. He's just a dumb patsy - a role he's spent his life perfecting.

His business career was just laundrering russian mob money, and his political career is just drawing fire from the rich cabal looting the american empire before there's nothing left to loot.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Plenty of people are telling him to piss off, it doesn't matter anymore, he has the keys to the castle.

He's also surrounded by a cabal of the worst people humanity has to offer, who are taking this opportunity to get as much abhorrent shit done as they can before he kicks the bucket and this weird cult of personality they have dies with him.

None of them are interested in stopping this train, they're getting everything they dreamed of and more.

Half of the US agrees with him. The other half thinks AOC's snappy comebacks being shared on Reddit are more than enough to stop him. The US is a shithole with only two viable parties, so the end result is what you see.

...uh, no they don't. Somewhere around 0% believe that.

Nazis. And the pedophiles that run the US will protect the pedophile in the White House.

I was talking to a dev who worked at Facebook  He told me the information on internet is not public. Its curated by google and Facebook, sure the information is there but they ensure what people see.

He gave an example of how people have accepted the premise of cloud storage and apple and google removed SD card slots from phones and there was no backlash. Its because they shadownban the users who protest and put post and comments which are neutral or supportive in front of masses.  He gave another example which I forgot.

People have stopped using common sense and are heaving addicted to screens and big tech and politicians know it hence at President Trumps inauguration he has all big tech leaders right in front as he know the public is addicted to screen which can be used to exploit and extract.

So to answer your question, there is backlash but its all online and those users are being profiled and there post don't get much visibility hence we see no protest coz others think there no backlash, nobody cares so why should I.

That’s how democracy works

The will of the people is greater than the laws as written

The people voted for Trump, a Republican congress, and by extension a Republican Supreme Court

It’s working as intended

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 4 points 5 days ago

30% of US adults voted for trump.

Decades of gerrymandering, voter suppression, disinfo campaigns and no small amount of outright fraud brought the current regime to power, not the will of american people.

A disgustingly low percentage of the US population votes in non-presidential elections. The right-wing has spent the better part of the last century stacking the deck at every level of government. The invention of the internet makes it harder for them to maintain this though (much easier to find out who/what you're voting for) but that's going to take a while for a long-term impact to be noticeable

[–] BigBolillo@mgtowlemmy.org 1 points 5 days ago

Because of the illusion of democracy..

I wish we could keep Trump out of every single community.

Pride. Simple answer. Public image, foot hold, etc... ass holes trying to hold onto wealth they don't deserve. Public kindness is protecting them. If they admit he's wrong, they're wrong, and that's an admission of guilt. They'll die before we experience them changing. All we can do is fight back loudly and quietly.

Edit: I was drunk when I said this I and don't know what I was saying.
