Did.. Did he just try to shake the pope down?

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 56 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Dude is trying to speedrun his way to super hell.

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 28 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Trump will go to only "the best hell".

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 days ago

I think the "hell for rich people" is actually the worst hell.

You know, if any hell was real besides the living hell of late-stage capitalism...

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

As Shepherd Book would say: "The special hell: reserved for child molesters and people who talk in the theater."

...I bet this SoB talks in the theater a lot, too.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 2 points 3 days ago

He's trying to roll the sin odometer over. Super hell was a lock a long time ago with all the rapes and murders

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I don't think Trump is catholic. The stoke will have to do.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 5 points 3 days ago

I would say he's the antichrist but surely he's too dumb for that? Peter Thiel is generally considered to be the anti christ, he's basically encouraging the association I think he likes it even. The president is like the devil's guy that keeps embarrassing him, can't get anything right.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He shook every country leader down. The pope is one of those.

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

A lot of people forget that the Vatican is a sovereign nation.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Well, they killed the last one. Seems like a credible threat.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 65 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (11 children)

I actually respect this pope quite a bit. He’s been doing a good job.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Francis was good as well. These are the first good popes in, well maybe forever I am no expert but not familiar with any popes that were good before. They aren't seemingly able to do anything big with it yet sadly. The catholic church in the US is mostly owned by the religious right still. Betraying Christ's mission on earth.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Opposition to the genocide in Palestinian and the treatment of immigrants in the United States that has the potential to turn into a genocide is massively influential considering the churches reach and the powerful corrupt forces at play here

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It is massively influential, it does not seem to be taking precedence over the massively influential right wing forces controlling most of American Catholicism leadership anyway. I say right wing, that is really kind of labeling it. This right and left is meaningless when we aren't measuring from a real place in reality. They are in service to malign interests, some of the most wealthy interests in the country.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Unfortunately , Christian evangelicals believe in Zionism because they believe that it will bring the end times and they want that.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Evangelicals are like 30% of the Republican base as well. And I guess that is not even counting like Baptists and other related ones. I'm not sure if Calvinists count as Evangelical. But yes, their worldview is so fucked, they want bad shit to happen, especially in the Middle East in israel, to bring on the rapture which will end the world in lakes of blood and Fire.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I’m not really religious but come from a southern Methodist and Catholic background on the two sides and from what I understand these evangelicals have 0 chance of ascending to heaven because not only do they fully and completely reject the teachings of Jesus they rabidly support a man who very closely resembles the Antichrist in their own book. Unfortunately even in a minority they have big money backing them

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

But I think that what we’re really dealing with here is religious extremism and fundamentalism is bad in any form and destructive as hell when mixed with settler colonialist ideology

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

The bar is pretty low for wold leaders right now so not supporting genocide and not supporting the kidnapping of immigrants is above and beyond these days unfortunately

Or “POPE SAYS NOPE” as it would say on a tabloid.

[–] queerlilhayseed@piefed.blahaj.zone 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I bet I would read a lot more articles if they stopped trying to cram the whole article into the headline and instead indulged in some alliterative whimsy every once in a while.

[–] DavorS@piefed.social 15 points 3 days ago

The opposite would be a clickbait. maybe something like: "You wont believe what the Pope said to Trump". Which is trash.

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 28 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

The ONLY countries participating in the Board of ~~Peace~~ Fascists are either other fascists or Trump's cock suckers.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Has any country bought in?

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

El Salvador,
Israel,
Argentina,
Hungary,
Azerbaijan

And similar countries, you get the pattern.

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Those countries, and the board of peace itself, have a shelf life of 3 years, which is when Trump will start expecting 1 billion in annual payments per member state to remain in the fascist club.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

DAE remember how the last pope died like right after meeting JD Vance?

DAE remember how Epstein and Bannon wanted to undermine Francis, shortly before Epstein, himself, died?

##🤔

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

vance reaped his soul. remember what happened to the queen after LIZ met with her. death has sent his reapers out on a job.

Liz Truss is one of those abominable vampires which attach like a limpet to their victim's arsehole and drain their life force rectally.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Like within a day or so right? Just dead. And then they replaced the guy with a new guy from the US for the first time ever too I think.

[–] 6stringringer@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

If Leo the Pope meets Vance & doesn’t die immediately afterwards, it is an indication that in six months to the day, JD will meet his fate. They can make it happen! Otherwise they’d be known as the Vatican’t.🥸

[–] whelk@retrolemmy.com 28 points 4 days ago

Probably hurts his ego a little extra since this is the first US-born pope, too

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 19 points 3 days ago

Honestly it feels like everything these chucklefucks do is a troll. The "~~Bored~~Board of Peace" for a group established with the pretty obvious intention of using the largest military on the planet to shake down non-members.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

Does he know about Trumps Taco Bell Peace prize?

[–] northernlights@lemmy.today 7 points 3 days ago

... so he tried to have the pope bribe him. Classy.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Good, maybe the Vatican can pick up the US tab for outstanding payments to the UN. They sure as fuck can afford it.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Good on dunking that mobster meat puppet trying to turn Gaza into Atlantic City 2.0.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

UN should probably be exploded a bit, but obviously not with anything trumpian.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, there should be more UN.

People: Why is the UN so useless?

The UN does something

Also people: ThE Un iS iNtErFerInG wItH oUr SoVeReIgN tea!¡!¡

As a world government advocate, people are ridiculous.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Hard to say what it has done. Would Russia have done something even worse in Ukraine if UN didn't exist? Seems like the several resolutions against their war did absolutely nothing.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

The UN is impotent because it is run by the Security Council, whose members have their own ego and power tripping veto power to forward their own agenda. French president Macron and other world leaders are correct to advocate granting more seats in the security council to allow more members in, and giving more power to the general assembly.
