Messi met with Trump, my GOAT has fallen. Maradona would've spit on his face.
💔 i’m not even surprised and i’m still sad. like i knew it was 80% chance
An actual Dutch marxist YouTuber (Left Laser) made it to the public broadcast to talk about upcoming municipal elections
I think one of the problems i have when going to therapy and such is that depression usually has a "before." As in, you were happy at some point and now you're depressed. But, given I've been struggling with suicidal thoughts since like 13 or thereabouts, there isn't really a before for me.
Sometimes i don't really know if whatever I'm feeling (like when I figured out what degree i wanted) was a "normal" amount of happiness or an excised amount.
This also ties into my mood swings. Being happy is really scary for me. Because I'll get very, very happy and manic and I'll recognize that, and so i have to prepare for when I crash and become sad again [if i don't notice, crashing often compounds how bad i feel, like I'm sad over being sad, if that makes sense]
It's really funny that "dark woke" Azov Something did a really thrash video giving horribly thrash dating advice while complaining that "the Left" failed "young men" (by not indulging their reactionary need to prove themselves as men through pick up artistry), when three years ago Shaun already did an actually quite good video giving advice for young men, including dating advice but also a lot of general self-growth advice. It's like the embodiment of left-aesthetic reactionaries in video form, absolutely refusing to feel uncomfortable with their own internalised misogyny, pampering their male egos, and thinking they're cured of all it just by declaring themselves "dark woke" or some other inane shit. He even opens the "advice" section pretending it isn't solely dedicated to heterosexual men, like non-het non-male dynamics are just drop-in replacements. In Portuguese we even have a word for this kind of redwashed pick up artist, "Esquerdomacho" (lefto-male? "Sexism" in Portuguese is "machismo" so the word has that connotation too).
It's gross, and the attached 91-page lefto-PUA manual is extra gross, but also funny in how bizarre it is. I feel every paragraph is huge screenshot-worthy "WTF". Like "first dates only from Monday to Thursday"? My guy, what do you think is the point of weekends for employed people? Dreadful stuff.
[Last one for today] maybe it's just because of my maternal instincts (at least, I think I have those) but I don't understand people who can't cook. Was talking to this guy from one of my classes and he's like "oh I cant cook my mom makes everything for me" and "I'll just eat out when I move out."
I don't really know his economic background, but it just feels very...idk. very something. It does go back to that I said a little while ago about people being incurious.
[Note: the guys a professional rage baiter so he might be joking but I know there are others who genuinely can't cook]
You have to have a certain level of privilege to be able to afford not knowing how to cook. For most working class people, eating out all the time would be prohibitively expensive.
There are exceptions of course. Some people get free lunch at their work for example, but this is not common where i live. I hear it's very common in China though.
Of course the more "traditional" option is you just get married as soon as you move out of your parents' home and have your spouse do the cooking 😂
Honestly, as cool as it is, I think we need a new magic system that isn't "humans have collective powers that make things real when they think hard."
Persona does it, Disco Elysium does it, that new analog horror Mt. Greylock does it, and (from what i can tell) life and suffering of sir brante also does it [although I'll give that one more of a pass because it's not obvious at first and i don't think it's ever explicitly confirmed].
And it's like...its interesting, but I wonder if there'd be a way to make a magic system without patheonic gods nor the psychic examples like the ones mentioned above.
Also i decided to watch some of The Office, and I know the show came out in 2005 but my god Michael is just...shockingly bad.
Honestly I thought Dwight or Jim would be my least favorite but I think I saw Michael make 5 racist remarks/"jokes" and 10 more incidents of sexual harassment in like 3 episodes.
And I know the show is pointing out how he is being really rude and offensive, but like...damn I needed a primer on what to be expected here
FWIW, he's worse in the first couple of seasons than in the rest of it. The first two were modeled after the British version, but the British version only ran for two seasons, so after they ran out of material to mimic, they went their own way with it and Michael gradually starts getting written in a way where he's more of a bumbling obnoxious person with a good heart than he is a narcissistic asshole.
But even then, yeah, the show can be painful to watch.
Fascist america will deploy troops.
If only nuclear proliferation was easier. I know people say "just get nukes" but enrichment is a really, really hard and energy intensive task. It's very hard to hide a centrifuge.
Talking about nation-states here, not personal centrifuges, feds. /s
Does anyone know where the line is drawn between promoting independence and promoting indifference? Now that we've had some time to dwell on the egg cracking conundrum. There's some good common sense answers like how support should be done to encourage self-determination.
At the same time, if we want to be representatives of the masses and make our goal to fight for the sake of each of us, this will include dealing with people who are the most lacking in material means, lacking in education, people who may have a "tainted" moral character due to being forced into life of crime etc. Some of the most willing to change individuals are those who have nothing, but these people are often viewed as undesirable, dangerous, they fail to move upwards in life due to various circumstances. Some of the most politically dedicated people in my life I've met were in rural villages, but they are completely side lined by activists, quite often.
Why is the youth so eager to go out on the street and protest or destroy stuff, but I try to push people to do something for the villagers and they ignore me. And I'm not romanticizing them in the slightest, on the contrary these people need help the most to progress, it would also be a great working opportunity. A while ago I was browsing rednote and I'm sorry for not noting this down, but I saw a post where someone went to a village in China to do something so simple as to take pictures of people who have never had a photo taken of them before and I thought that's such a nice opportunity for learning and doing a good deed at the same time. We should do something like that too. Maybe some people aren't so well spoken, aren't super educated, but there's value in organically formed culture.
These people's families often worked in factories that was the reason why our metropolises can exist now at all. They have gone through insurmountable hardships, they struggled and lived. It's not okay to just glamorize and then push them aside. There's so much to learn there, if we actually went out and did something. It would surely be more useful than flocking to the streets with signs. Why are veterans of war so venerated, but mass graves of factory workers turn to dust and end up demolished because nobody check up on them. I'm not saying pick one or the other, both are important. It's so easy to battle the desperate in the debate room with those who weren't privileged enough to inherit opportunities of education, but put yourself against them in the field of praxis. My ancestors built several houses all by themselves, shared resources with their communities no payment required, we may have starved to death if not for the kind people lending my fam potatoes to plant. No wonder these nazi shitstains lost. Let's try to learn more from the people who defeated them and I realize I've gone on a tangent again. My bad I write a lot. You don't wanna see my notes they're about as clear as Dostoyevsky was cheerful in his writings.
What is happening to lemmygrad and hexbear? There seems to be some consistent issues with both every other day.
Was Leo Tolstoy anti-semitic?
There was this paragraph in Hadji Murad that didn't quite sit well with me. It was about a russian officer that got a huge debt through gambling and i kid you not, Leo wrote "He settled his debt through a Jew who loaned him the amount with a very high interest."
On a vacuum it's a weird statement, however Leo normally references the ethnicities of it's characters, a cossack there, that tatar, the chechen, etc ... So i am not entirely sure. Still it's a weird thing to write about.
It's worth mentioning that he might've just shared the stereotypical views against jews that many other aristocrats shared during his time, a mild antisemitism we might say.
Jews were specifically restricted from working in many professions so many were forced into money lending to support themselves. If the money lender charged him high interest it has nothing to do with him being Jewish and everything to do with the high risk lending to the Russian officer.

So anyone else think trump will do a massive false flag on us soil and claim it was Iran in order to declare a state of emergency and stop the mid term elections.. and well all elections, or is that just me?
