A combat-unit commander told non-commissioned officers at a briefing Monday that the Iran war is part of God’s plan and that Pres. Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” according to a complaint by a non-commissioned officer.

From Saturday morning through Monday night, more than 110 similar complaints about commanders in every branch of the military had been logged by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).

The complaints came from more than 40 different units spread across at least 30 military installations, the MRFF told me Monday night.

It's a doomsday cult.

I mean we have adults who identify as MAGA and believe anything Orange Jesus tells them, so I am not surprised some of them found their way into the military

I am trying to think of how we would have responded to this when I was in the military

We already had a 1st Sergeant who used soldiers to pick up trash at his church and gave soldiers on extra duty the option to go to his church on Sunday to avoid extra duty

That 1SG got forced retirement pretty quick

But a commander? Not sure how to handle that one

There's no easy solution, because it's like trying to treat a cancer that has already been growing for generations and is already metastasizing. Ironically, the best bet from a wide perspective is probably a combination of supporting religious diversity (more institutions who don't share their views), and even moreso a healthy, science-respecting educational system. These groups thrive most in rural areas with the poorest access to education. They perceive college as a threat for good reason - because their entire worldview is a hot garbage house of cards that immediately crumbles under the slightest scrutiny.

Free public college is the biggest threat to them.

Any sources for this? I don't trust substack stuff

This is the right question. This doesn't sound unlikely given what we know about Hegseth, but I have no clue who Jonathan Larsen is or why we should trust him.

"No one knows the day or the hour except for my Father. And this orange pedophile who shits himself. That's gonna make sense in a few thousand years." - Jesus, probably.

People like this are literally going to cause the end of the human race with their “beliefs”. We have a bunch of religious fanatics killing at the behest of a demented pedophile and his genocidal buddy.

Religion is a cancer.

At what point does it become socially acceptable to say to these people, “Fuck your god”?

Anyone returning named Jesus would be deported to El Salvador.

I can only hope after the fallout clears and the species survives that we outright ban all religions as a species.

[–] superduperenigma@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago

Best I can do is a cult that worships and makes sacrifices to the only surviving Zoltar animatronic fortune teller after the nuclear apocalypse.

God is all powerful. Also, God needs you to commit war crimes to win this illegal war that he really wants to win. Like, you're the only way he can win this war. Do it for our all powerful God.

Why does God need a starship?

Christian death cult gonna death cult. This is what we deserve for allowing these morons into power.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 47 points 20 hours ago (4 children)

This is what cultists do when they see their reckoning coming. Rev Jones made his followers drink Kool aid (flavor aid actually) when US Senators visited and found he was keeping people against their will. Trump and his crazies will do the same. Remember ... Trump could have just been impeached, or not elected in the first place.

Of course they would try and guilt trip the religious people who don't know any better. I wish more people were aware of the thousands of complaints by military personel about pedophile trump and all his dumb orders. The parade in washington was an absolute disaster and made most of us laugh at donald for how weak he is, the military was pissed they had to stand around for hours.
