I know, the title is not very "not-the-onion-y". But the piece of news is: Spanish Foreign Minister Albares was in a radio interview while Leavit said that. So he basically spent her live in a national radio station, in one of the most listened programs of the country.

Spain most certainly wouldn't.

So, Whitehouse, you're telling me the guys that sent a naval ship to support the Gaza flotilla, is the base of the next floatilla launching, and has routinely and aggressively opposed Israel, their crimes against humanity, and disregard of international law, much louder than any other country; that Spain has suddenly started helping with the Iran thing?

The only people who believe anything coming out of Trump's White House without verification from legitimate sources are maggots.

they're stressing the american propaganda machine to it's limits i think, even under Bush they got like a good month or 2+ of narrative building before attacking the ME.

whether it matters...who the fuck knows, i'v been disappointed by my fellow americans far too many times to count by now. presumably this is all just creating a crisis to build towards trying to suspend/generally manipulate elections this year?

When tf did the middle east become the Mideast? Makes it sound like Iran is Minnesota or something.

Did they think Spain would just go along with it to save face?

his government wouldn’t allow the U.S. to use jointly operated bases in southern Spain in any strikes not covered by the U.N. charter.

This is very specific language. Are they allowed to use non-jointly-operated bases? Are the strikes potentially covered by the UN Charter?

Hard to tell when we're playing word games and not, these days.

If a u.s base is in Spain, it's jointly operating.

You successfully answered a question that was neither of the two.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

Asked if they were allowed to use non jointly operating bases. I said all bases are jointly operated.

Did you miss that part.
