I wonder if this will get to the point where trump claims china signed a deal and america won the trade war, but cargo ships still aren't coming

Market manipulation is the point. Every time he makes a statement the market reacts which allows people who are in on it to make money hand over fist.

Although, I doubt he even cares what they think. His constituents are the financial capitalists whose interests he represents.
