It'd be easy to remove this post for a violation of Rule 3's requirement on high-quality sources, but this is textbook leopards, so we'll work around it.

Pinning this comment so everyone has easy access to the ACLU's press release about this lawsuit which is likely to be a much better source. Here's a Charlotte Observer article about the attack. And here's the Newsweek article quoting MS NOW about the regret.

Maybe I should have a canned explanation for how trash the IBT is as a source, but as a proxy for that: we don't use it as much as we reasonably can on Wikipedia (a source which, funnily, I've seen the IBT cite for claims not about Wikipedia).

Your comment is more work than merely removing the submission, but I, for one, highly appreciate it. I get to see the story and better sources. <3

Tangent: I would love to see a Lemmy feature that allows community mods to unilaterally block links to specific domains within their community. So, in this case, the poster would get an immediate notification that their post was not allowed due to the link being to a low quality source, and a suggestion to find the same story on a more reputable site.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Seems like a generalized automoderator tool might be handy that would allow a wide variety of actions :)

The irony that Newsweek is among the list seems to be lost on everyone. Fuck Newsweek.

agreed, but when verifying, a broad consensus among shitty sources works when you can't find good sources.

we found the charlotte observer tho so like, why newsweek.

I CANT believe what Trump just DID to me! It's going to make it SO MUCH HARDER when I vote for Him AGAIN!

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 1 points 52 minutes ago

That's the spirit! Trump will love him! He loves the poorly educated and the dumb!

[–] cevn@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Love seeing these lol. I am your fediverse follower

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 hours ago

It's the one constant you can rely on

[–] PointyFluff@lemmy.ml 10 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Have the day you voted for.

I mean yes, leopards and faces, but, goddamn.

US Police will break your window... but they typically won't drag you through the now broken window, they'll open the door, unbuckle you or cut the straps.

Fucking hell.

What's underneath Hell?

How low can the bar be?

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 37 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

ICE recruits people the police rejected. It's what happens when your political ideology is more important than any morality. IOW: when the ends justify the means.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 9 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

I've heard ICE described as a militia of the unemployable created to persecuted the working class.

I'm sure Marx might have had something to say about the lumpen proletariat and the wages of a failed social safety net. But the six-figure salary for hunting anyone with a green card or a student visa for sport seems to speak for itself.

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

If you've ever read Sinclair Lewis's It can't happen here, the parallel between his "marching clubs" and our Proud Boys/ICE are hard to miss.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

True... I'm just awed by the unprofessionalism of it.

These peoples means are going to justify their own end... they will forever be pariahs, at best.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 58 minutes ago

i dunno. what happened to the SS and SA after 1945 in germany? did they get to go back among the populace as normal or were they shunned into exile? because i seem to remember only a few were tried and the rest just became regular germans.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

For them it's all about the means

[–] French75@slrpnk.net 1 points 3 hours ago

The claim is from a lawyer's description of events in a legal complaint seeking monetary damages. It's hyperbolic, and mostly bullshit.

They stop went as you described. They told him to get out, he didn't. They threatened to break the window and remove him. He still refused. Then they broke the window, opened the door, and removed him through the open door while he resisted, all the while barking about talking about how they were gonna pay for it. They didn't drag him through glass, and didn't drag him through the window. He had a small cut on his arm. There was a small bit of visible blood on his arm. if he didn't put that spot of arm in front of the camera lens, you wouldn't know it was cut. His physical injuries were visible, but negligible.

The worst part is that this worthless cunt got the working end of what he voted for, and now he's probably gonna get a judgment or settlement that we all get to pay for. Sadly, the faces getting eaten here are taxpayers'.

∗Clears throat to imitate MAGA voice∗:
HE SHOULD HAVE OBEYED THE LAW!
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE YOUR PAPERS ON YOU AT ALL TIMES RETARD! WOKE RETARD DESERVES THIS!!

/sI know they read this /c/. So we have to remind them who they are.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 27 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Good, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving dickhead. I hope it happens to him many more times before this is over.

Most likely, he'll still end up deported eventually. They don't respect Birthright Citizenship, and that's in the Constitution. They certainly don't respect Naturalized Citizenship.

Bottom line: If you weren't born in America, of American parents, then they want you OUT.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 23 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Bottom line: If you weren't born in America, of THE RIGHT American parents, then they want you OUT.

On November 15, 2025, Aceituno was […]

Ima stop you there and ask: On November 14, 2025, if you had asked him who he supported, would he have said Trump? Because I bet the answer is "yes", and if so, fuck everyone like him. They support Trump until something happens to them. They can't be bothered to understand how any of this affects anyone but themselves.

Of course I'll be glad if he votes blue from here on out, but I bet he won't.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

And even after it happens to them, they'll still vote Republican. Because they are incapable of learning.

[–] Zirconium@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Yea, I'm actually surprised he changed his mind, a lot of them go "well that sucks, but I know it's not president's fault, it's the woke left that's making ICE this aggressive"

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago

Boo Hoo! So sad! turns out voting for Nazis is a bad idea, if only absolutely everyone had warned you.........

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 6 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Keep the lawsuits coming. That's a great lever against ICE, make it costly to keep behaving as they are.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

They don't care about money.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)
[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 1 points 15 minutes ago

?? They really don't. They only care about the debt when Dems are in office.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

They have more money than the people they abuse and the organizations willing to represent them.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

True, and they are rich because they are cheapskates willing to sell their souls to save a few pennies. I think there is a tug of war in their minds that will make the expensive lawsuits just a bit irritating every time another couple million goes out to those people they look down on. It's a small effect that has the possibility of building over time.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I think the person you responding to meant the organization has tons of money because we decided millions of people don't need health care so the stupid racists can do racist state (hate but state kinda fits ) crimes

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 2 points 2 hours ago

I still want the lawsuits to keep coming. This one in particular because it gives that one magat a moment to reconsider their previous actions, which will reverb thru their associates, friends and families. There's a multiplier effect going on here.

[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 7 points 5 hours ago

Poor window.
